Nielsen doesn’t lie: NHL Stanley Cup is back

NBC Sports reports that the 3.8 national rating and seven share for Monday night’s
triple overtime Game 5 of the Stanley Cup Final was up 111 percent over
Game 5 last year (Anaheim-Ottawa, 1.6/3) and the best Game 5
performance in six years (2002, Carolina-Detroit, 4.2/8). The
Pittsburgh Penguins victory over the Detroit Red Wings won the night
for NBC among Adults 18-34 and in all key male demos. The first three
games have averaged a 3.0/6, an 88 percent increase over last season

Some other ratings notes:

NBC ranked No. 1 in primetime for Saturday’s Game 4 in Adults
18-49, Adults 18-34 and all key adult-male demographics. This marks the
first time Stanley Cup coverage has scored a primetime win since
Saturday, June 9, 2001 (Stanley Cup Final Game 7, Colorado-New Jersey).

The three-game average among Men 18-49 is up a whopping 131
percent over last year (3.0 to 1.3) and 123 percent among Men 25-54
(2.9 to 1.3).

Of NBC’s 11 Stanley Cup Final games since 2006, Monday’s was the highest rated and most watched.
