LiaoNing TV Taps Vinten for OB Vans at Olympics

Shenyang, China-based Liaoning TV equipped the outside-broadcast vans for its Olympics coverage with some of the latest camera-support equipment from Vinten.
Liaoning TV is using Vinten s Vision 100 pan-and-tilt head and tripod systems and the Vector 90 pan-and-tilt heads with heavy-duty tripods for broadcasting from a range of
OB locations during the Olympics.
Shenyang is the political, cultural and transportation centre of north China. Liaoning TV s satellite channel covers all of
China and the Asia-Pacific area through the Asia No. 2 satellite. Established in 1959, Lioaning s news channel reaches 270 million households all over
China while its other channels — sports, business, city-life, entertainment, and science news — are broadcast throughout the
Liaoning
Province .
Liaoning TV has the top viewing population among all other National Broadcast Satellite Channels, says Ma Cheng, senior engineer at Liaoning TV, so it is important we lead the field with quality programming and excellent broadcast facilities.
All our Olympics broadcasting is on a digital platform, producing attractive state-of-the-art programming for our viewers, he continues. So we need to ensure that every piece of equipment meets this requirement. The Vinten systems are perfect for this. They are proven and can satisfy all the requirements for cameramen operating our outside-broadcast systems.
The Vision 100 is ideal for demanding
OB environments, where total reliability and precise camera control are paramount. Combining Vinten s Perfect Balance system with the latest TF drag mechanism, the Vision 100 delivers complete control and consistent performance in even the most difficult or fastest-moving broadcasting conditions.
The Vector 90 pan-and-tilt head provides camera operators with improved picture control and overall performance in a compact, extremely robust package. The Vector 90 is also relatively lightweight and compact, requiring minimal storage space, so it is ideal for the confines of
OB vans. It is also quick and easy to set up and reposition as is required to cover fast-paced sports.
The combination of the Vision and Vector camera-support systems from Vinten meets all our
OB needs, says Ma Cheng. Working with them, we are confident of delivering the highest standard of coverage to our viewers throughout the Olympics.
