RFO Deploys Miranda’s iControl RSM Remote Station Monitoring System

R seau France
Outre-mer (RFO), the broadcasting network that operates in
France’s
overseas departments and territories around the world, will install Miranda
Technologies today iControl RSM remote station monitoring system at 6 of its
facilities by the end of 2008.
The system for La Reunion, located in the Indian Ocean, was
deployed over the summer, with Nouvelle Cal donie, Polyn sie (Tahiti), Guyane
(French Guiana), Martinique, and Guadeloupe to
follow.
“Our operators will be much better equipped to respond to
any faults in our equipment with Miranda’s monitoring system”, said Christian
Augereau, RFO’s Technical Director.
“Being able to detect playout problems in the North
Atlantic, or the Indian Ocean, from our main facility in
Paris will help minimize any interruptions to
service.”

The iControl RSM system provides a high quality, multi-image
display of the signals monitored, with audible audio and detailed signal status
information. The system provides alarms for key video and audio parameters and
thresholds, as well as error logging with time-stamped event and error entries
for fast historic fault searches.
The monitoring system uses Kaleido-Alto-HD processors for
multi-image display and multi-channel probing at each remote station. The Alto’s
multi-image mosaics from each remote station are then fed back as SDI to the
centralized monitoring facility in Malakoff, Paris. Operators in Malakoff can
view all remote sites mosaics on the video wall or at the Operator’s console
as full motion video using a local Alto and an Allegro digital video streaming
encoder.
The monitoring from each remote site comprises up to 10
video and audio signals, and each signal can be displayed full screen for
closer inspection. Returns from the remote sites will also be monitored using
Miranda’s new Densite Series IRD-3801 integrated receiver decoders.
