Leader LV5800 Monitor Supports Loudness Measurement, Video Frame Capture

Leader Electronics’ LV5800 monitoring-instrument capabilities now has full support for loudness measurement in embedded audio (PCM, Dolby-E, AC3) and AES-EBU (PCM, Dolby-E, AC3) and video-frame-capture triggering by alarm.

Leader’s LV5800 monitor is a modular system capable of measuring up to eight HD or SD-SDI signals simultaneously in any mix of formats, including Dual-link (in that case, four signals simultaneously), MPEG-2 ASI signals, eye pattern and jitter, embedded and AES-EBU audio, composite PAL or NTSC, and 3G. The high-resolution screen (1024×768 pixels) can be split into four or two segments. Leader’s patented Cinelite and Cinezone software can be used on this instrument.

The frame-capture triggering offers a strong analysis tool: if an error occurs, a full frame of video is available for investigation of the problem at any suitable moment. Through the free choice of errors to be included, this tool helps to pinpoint all and any problems with the video signal. Possible triggers: TRS Error/Line Number Error/Illegal Code Error/Parity Error (ANC Data)/Checksum Error (ANC Data)/Gamut Error/Composite Gamut Error/Level Error.

These new features are included as standard with all new instruments shipped as of today. All existing customers are entitled to a free upgrade.

The loudness measurement complies with ITU-R BS.1770-1, Loudness-F, and Loudness-S scales and is available for embedded and external audio, including configurations with Dolby-E.

The LV5800 is part of a complete offering of video-measurement instruments for TV studios, outside broadcasting trucks, edit suites, and postproduction.
