Chyron CAMIO Makes Appearance Down Under

ABC Television, a service of Australian Broadcasting Corp. (ABC), has installed Chyron CAMIO MOS workflow servers to complement new LEX2 graphics systems for use in producing top-quality SD graphics for a wide range of programming from ABC’s Sydney base, plus ABC sites in Melbourne, Canberra, Adelaide, Hobart, Perth, Brisbane, and Darwin.

ABC will take advantage of CAMIO, a complete news-graphics workflow-management system providing unprecedented control over the management and delivery of newsroom graphics, empowering journalists and producers with the easy-to-use LUCI ActiveX Newsroom Plugin interface to create, preview, and publish highly sophisticated graphics. Since the rendering of graphics previews happens on the CAMIO server, no additional hardware is required on the journalist’s desktop. High-resolution preview images of each graphic in LUCI are shown to the requestor using popular “small-footprint” file formats and enable previews across the WAN as well as the LAN.

The LEX2 systems provide seamless graphics creation to playout, real-time 2D/3D animation, and a host of hardware and software features, including 2D- and 3D-object import; advanced text and image effects; intelligent interface and DB link update; macro creation/execution; and an HD/SD high-quality 3D DVE.

Further, when coupled with Chyron’s “iSQ,” a centralized remote-monitoring and -playout application, the system enables ABC to monitor and control MOS-generated playlists from multiple devices.

“ABC’s decision to further enhance their graphic presence with Chyron technology is something that will be of substantial benefit and ROI to ABC and its millions of viewers across the continent,” says William Payne, Chyron director of Asia Pacific sales.
