Cinegy Launches IP-Based Routing

By Debra Kaufman

Cinegy, a Munich-headquartered company that offers workflow solutions based on intelligent and integrated software, announced Monitor, an IP-based monitoring and routing product. “For broadcasters, Monitor is a software way of replacing hardware routing,” says Martin Libich, Cinegy North America and worldwide product evangelist. “This allows us to capture the actual transport stream from the satellite and, without ever leaving the digital domain, routing that video content anywhere in the facility.

“This isn’t just a cost saver,” he adds, “but literally a transition into the new era where you’re no longer required to invest in expensive routing hardware or limited by the hardware planning on how you scale and grow your environment.”

Libich notes that, for stations building new plants, Cinegy provides end-to-end workflow solutions with software tools for “all aspects of broadcast and post-production workflows.” Among the aspects: ingest, media asset management, media search, storyboarding and rough-cut editing, desktop-based timeline editing, and export into nonlinear editors, including Avid and FCP, as well as all playout and transcoding options for broadcast workflows.

“If you’re looking to reduce costs and build a facility, Cinegy offers that,” adds Managing Director Daniella Weigner. “And if you’re looking to integrate advanced features like asset management into an existing environment, Cinegy allows you to do that.”

Weigner also announced the opening of its Los Angeles offices, to be headed by Libich. “In Los Angeles, Martin will work with broadcasters and post facilities to ensure Cinegy has a presence and a full-support environment,” she says. “We’re already working with a number of broadcasters in Europe, so we want to bring that model of success to the U.S.”
