Calrec Audio Lands First Apollo Console Customer

London-based Fountain Studios is the first customer for Calrec Audio’s 72-fader Apollo console, which will be delivered in July and installed as the final part of a complete HD-studio-investment program.

Apollo relies on Bluefin2 processing. At 48 kilohertz, Bluefin2 gives Apollo up to 1,020 channel-processing paths, 128 program busses, 96 IFB/track outputs, and 48 auxiliaries. At 96 kHz, those numbers are 510 channel-processing paths, 64 program busses, 48 IFB/track outputs, and 24 auxiliaries.

The console is also equipped with a dedicated integrated router so that its I/O functions can be performed by Calrec’s next-generation networking system, Hydra2, which uses high-capacity 8,192 x 8,192 cross-point routers and makes available a variety of I/Os. And console routers can be connected together to form large networks.

Fountain is an independently owned television studio located in Wembley, northwest London, and it counts Britain’s Got Talent and The X Factor among its live-entertainment fare.
