Loudness Metering Now Available on Quantel with NUGEN VisLM
Quantel has added support for NUGEN Audio’s VisLM loudness metering software. NUGEN Audio’s VisLM is available on Quantel’s broadcast editors in the latest V5.2 software.
Loudness has become a hot issue over the last few years, with standards bodies around the world introducing mandatory loudness specifications for all broadcast programming. With detailed, objective loudness measurement, history and logging facilities, VisLM provides a comprehensive, ITU, ATSC and EBU standard compliant way to measure, compare and contrast loudness during post-production. The VisLM loudness meter offers both realtime metering and a many times faster than realtime analysis mode.
VisLM integrates fully into the Quantel editing and finishing workspace, allowing the user to monitor audio loudness compliance simply and quickly. Key VisLM features available on the Quantel desktop include: True-Peak level metering; Loudness Range; Momentary ‘instantaneous loudness’ for mixing by ear; Short term loudness; and Program Loudness.
“Loudness compliance is now an essential consideration for broadcasters and post houses,” says Quantel Marketing Director, Steve Owen. “NUGEN Audio’s VisLM is a powerful yet easy to use loudness meter that integrates right into the heart of our unbeatable fast-turnaround workflow.”
“Tight integration into the heart of an editing system is the key to a fast and efficient workflow,” says Jon Schorah, NUGEN Audio creative director. “By working with Quantel, we will help ensure that essential loudness metering is seamlessly available across its entire range of broadcast editors.”
