Imagine Communications Acquires RGB Networks

Imagine Communications has announced the acquisition of RGB Networks, a significant milestone in the company’s goal to redefine the way media is delivered, monetized, and consumed.

RGB Networks represents Imagine’s fourth acquisition in 12 months. Like those before it, this transaction advances the company’s leadership position in video infrastructure, advertising management, and workflow solutions. RGB Networks’ technology, people, and customers complement and accelerate our vision and roadmap defined by IP, software, cloud, and multiscreen.

For Imagine Communications, 2014 was a year defined by innovation, leadership, and growth. From an innovation perspective, Imagine introduced the industry’s first hybrid SDI/IP platform: Magellan SDN Orchestrator; VersioCloud, the industry’s first fully integrated IP-enabled cloud playout platform; and Zenium, the industry’s most advanced workflow management system. From a leadership perspective, Imagine Communications was named Video Encoding and Transcoding Entrepreneurial Company of the Year by Frost & Sullivan and received its 9th Emmy award for interoperability of JPEG2000 compression technology. In terms of growth, Imagine delivered our best overall performance since 2011, including double-digit growth across each of its three technology pillars (Advertising Management, Playout, and Networking), and 13% year-over-year growth in new orders. Finally, Imagine successfully acquired three technology companies aligned with its vision and strategy — all of which are helping the company advance and accelerate its roadmap designed for  media networks, broadcasters, communication service providers, and enterprise customers.

In 2015, the convergence of video, mobility, and the Internet brings the industry to an inflection point. Lean-back TV viewing is moving aside for a more personalized, viewer-controlled experience. Consumers now demand the freedom and flexibility to view all forms of media anywhere, anytime and on any device, forcing innovators to create new technologies, architectures and business models to adapt to these rapid changes. To monetize their services and capture market share, customers will need to migrate away from inflexible, proprietary infrastructures and adopt IP-enabled, cloud-based, software-defined networks and workflows to deliver top-line growth and bottom-line results. Imagine’s ongoing investments in innovation and leadership in these areas are helping its customers ease the transition to these more flexible, next-generation solutions.
