ISE 2016: Black Box Demonstrates Control Room Visualization and KVM Solutions

This past week, Black Box demonstrated several solutions for enhancing control room operations with high-performance KVM technology at the Integrated System Europe 2016 (ISE) Conference in Amsterdam RAI, NL.

Screen shot 2016-02-10 at 11.16.41 AMKVM systems are designed for 24/7 access to remote servers. These systems scale to thousands of server devices and user stations, enable multiple users to access the same servers, provide high-definition video resolution up to 4k, and deliver real-time mouse and keyboard response. When used in conjunction with a video wall controller, these solutions enable content from multiple sources or users to be easily and simultaneously shared to any desktop, a video wall, or to a gateway for remote servers.

The company’s KVM solutions enable control room operators to improve operational workflow, enhance user ergonomics, and protect critical systems. The following products were demonstrated at ISE in combination with each other to showcase the operational benefits that can be obtained with a multi-layered KVM system design:

  • DCX3000: A 30-port KVM matrix switch that combines uncompressed digital signals with an easy-to-view graphical user interface.
  • Agility IP-Based KVM: Scalable KVM and HD video extension and switching over a LAN.
  • Freedom II: A KVM switch that creates a multi-screen extended desktop experience with mouse-controlled, instantaneous switching across multiple CPUs and operating systems.
  • DKM FX KVM Matrix: Scalable KVM matrix platform that provides instantaneous switching for video and peripheral signals, signal extension and conversion.

The ControlBridge control system will be integrated into control room KVM systems to demonstrate a flexible Human-Machine Interaction (HMI) for control room operators. The control system can communicate with multiple systems via Ethernet and serial protocols to simplify operator tasks.
