TVU Networks Live Streams Super Bowl 50 Festivities

Broncos 24, Panthers 10 wasn’t the only significant score to emerge from Super Bowl 50 earlier this month. During the week preceding, during, and after the year’s ultimate gridiron matchup, dozens of TVU Network mobile uplink transmitters were used to broadcast live coverage from the Bay Area. The TVU One and TVUPack portable IP newsgathering units were used by more than 20 TV stations, networks, sports organizations, and web sites to capture and stream pristine video of all the news and festivities surrounding the big game.

unnamedReporters sporting TVU transmitters were seen hopping on and off cable cars, talking with tourists at Fisherman’s Wharf, shooting live remotes from designated team hotels, jockeying for position at Panther and Bronco press conferences and interviewing diehard fans the midst of Super Bowl City. Before the game, TVU transmitters live streamed pre-show, on-location remotes. The units were on the field at half-time to capture the musical acts up close, and they were there after the game for immediate, post-game coverage.

TVU Networks offered a broad range of video uplink services to its customers for Super Bowl 50 event coverage, in addition to its TVU One and TVUPack transmitters and TVU Receivers. TVU Networks’ range of on-location services included:

  • Local cellular 4G and LTE datacards;
  • Dedicated microwave mesh network in multiple locations in and around the San Francisco Bay Area including major venues hosting Super Bowl activities and events;
  • Technical support from experienced TVU personnel;
  • Office space with high speed Ethernet and WiFi for meetings and for use as an operational staging area.

TVU is offering similar equipment rentals and on-location support at the upcoming Rio de Janeiro Summer Games.
