Wazee Digital’s Andy Hurt Giving Joint Presentation on CharlieRose.com

Wazee Digital’s Senior Vice President of Marketing and Business Development Andy Hurt will present at the Amazon Web Services (AWS) Media and Entertainment Cloud Symposium.

Wazee Digital LogoJoining Hurt will be Xarissa Holdaway, deputy editor for digital for the “Charlie Rose” television series. Together Hurt and Holdaway will give a presentation titled “Migrating the Charlie Rose Content Library to the Cloud.” The Amazon event takes place Nov. 4 in Universal City, California.

The presentation will provide an overview of the effort to create CharlieRose.com, a new viewer-facing content portal for the “Charlie Rose” show powered by Wazee Digital Core, the company’s enterprise software-as-a-service (SaaS) technology built specifically for the cloud. Core enables the show’s staff to curate 25 years’ worth of interviews that journalist and anchor Charlie Rose has conducted with some of the world’s top entertainers, athletes, politicians, business leaders, and thought leaders. The Core platform manages large-scale digital ingest, metadata and segmenting workflows, and third-party closed-captioning services. The data archive sits on Amazon Simple Storage Solution (Amazon S3) and Amazon Glacier, while Core provides dynamic archive management and global access to the Charlie Rose brand and video library.

“CharlieRose.com was a monumental effort that has been a tremendous success, and we think this presentation will be very instructive for the audience in attendance at the AWS event,” said Harris Morris, CEO of Wazee Digital. “This project is a case study on how to build a high-volume, multifaceted content library in a cloud environment — one that allows production teams to focus on producing high-quality content while someone else takes care of the assets.”

The AWS Media and Entertainment Cloud Symposium is a day of presentations and discussions on the trends in cloud computing that are reshaping the media and entertainment industries. The event will feature keynote speeches by industry veterans and early adopters of cloud solutions, in addition to an afternoon of breakout sessions on the strategies and best practices for cloud-based media supply chains, video processing and delivery, and digital archives.
