Haivision Powers 360-Degree VR 4K Live Stream During CMA Awards Red Carpet
Haivision helped power the 360-degree virtual reality (VR) 4K live stream for The CMA Awards Mary Kay Fashion Cam – the first live VR experience from The CMA Awards Red Carpet.
Starting at 6 p.m. CT on Wednesday, November 2, the live stream from the fashion cam gave fans an exclusive inside look at artists live on the red carpet at The 50th Annual CMA Awards as they entered the action and answered questions from music duo and YouTube stars Megan & Liz Mace. The broadcast of The 50th Annual CMA Awards continued at 7:00 CT/8:00 ET on ABC.
The live stream was powered by the Nokia Ozo VR camera and Haivision’s KB 4K HEVC/H.264 Encoder, and the digital production was managed by Thinkingbox, a leading global creative and digital production studio. Trusted for the highest quality immersive 360 VR internet streaming experiences, Haivision’s KB 4K Encoder features HEVC to deliver the highest resolution video to global internet audiences.
In the live video workflow, the eight cameras of the Nokia OZO are aggregated by OZO Live video processing software and delivered to the Haivision KB 4K Encoder as 4096 × 2160 resolution stereoscopic (3D) video. The Haivision 4K Encoder encodes the video and streams directly to YouTube Live. Viewers can enjoy an engaging red carpet experience as if they were standing right in the action by watching on YouTube’s HTML5 Video Player which supports 3D VR 360 playback.
