NBC Sports Washington Names Darryl Heggans VP of Sales

NBC Sports Washington (NBCSW) named veteran media sales executive Darryl Heggans VP of Sales. Heggans will oversee NBC Sports Washington’s multi-platform national and local sales efforts, which will include budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning, along with the development of new business opportunities across all platforms.

The announcement was made by Damon Phillips, SVP and General Manager of NBC Sports Washington, and Walter Cade, SVP, Advertising and Sponsorship Sales for NBC Sports Regional Networks. Heggans will report to both Phillips and Cade.

“Darryl is a dynamic leader in the cross-platform sales space, and has a strong understanding of the sports landscape and Washington market,” says Phillips. “His experience, creative approaches to client needs in the marketplace, and contagious enthusiasm will make him an ideal leader for our sales team.”

Prior to joining NBC Sports Washington, Heggans served on ESPN’s multicultural multimedia sales team, where he developed and led cross-platform media strategies. Previously, Heggans held sales management roles at TV One and the Gospel Music Channel. He began his career at BET, serving in various sales roles, including Vice President of Midwest Ad Sales, during his 13-year tenure with the network.

Heggans earned his bachelor’s degree in organizational behavior and management from Brown University and was a four-year letterman in football. He is a graduate of St. John’s College High School.

Heggans will relocate from Chicago to the Washington, DC, area.
