NECF Provides Video-Production Exchange Desk for Sports-Broadcast Industry

The Sports Video Group is pleased to welcome NECF as a corporate sponsor. NECF offers a video-production exchange desk for a marketplace consortium of broadcasters, digital creators, and vendors. The exchange handles logistics and provides reliable, affordable access to top-tier, often underutilized video-production resources.

NECF’s patent-pending model and technology coordinate video-production resources, manpower, and new SaaS products worldwide. Implementation of an exchange desk opens massive profit opportunities and reduces production costs. This offers the option to eliminate significant costs associated with transportation, housing, and feeding of personnel onsite and leapfrogs the current “hub model” that still requires everyone to travel to a central location. Only crew and equipment absolutely necessary at a venue or control center need to be located there. NECF handles the logistics, technologies, and know-how required.

“We see SVG as a way to engage all those involved in sports, whether they be a content producer, equipment vendor, or equipment manufacturer,” says CEO Joseph Maar. “In an age when equipment sits idle for most of the time and costs increase, we see our involvement in SVG as a way to introduce the industry to a new model for production: distributed production. [With it,] we, as an industry, can combine resources and produce more sports at a lower price point so that all involved in the production process can win.”

Using a sharing marketplace consortium, NECF recently coordinated two distributed-production live telecasts for a major U.S. regional sports network. NECF also deployed its marketplace model on two football games in the Midwest, events that otherwise would not have been televised because of the expense of either a traditional game broadcast or an at-home production.

For the two games, NECF coordinated a total of 24 marketplace partners, 15 in the U.S. and nine in international locations. This provided the opportunity to eliminate the significant logistical costs associated with moving, housing, and feeding onsite production personnel, as well as shipping the majority of production equipment to each venue or having a traditional and costly at-home production-control room.
