NEP’s M15 Mobile Unit Taps Lawo for Key IP Workflows

Single-unit truck is targeted at regional sports production

NEP Group’s latest mobile unit in the U.S., M15, features an IP infrastructure based on Lawo’s V__matrix IP routing and processing platform loaded with function-specific software handling all IP I/O, SDI I/O, audio processing, and multiviewers. The single-unit truck was designed to streamline regional sports workflows but is flexible enough to scale up for larger shows.

NEP’s M15 unit has an IP core that relies heavily on Lawo gear.

Throughout its interior, M15 offers personalized workstations at all operating positions, individualized climate control, and custom lighting. It uses NEP’s latest horizontal control-room design, and the production room features an extremely flexible monitor wall fed by multiviewers with 32-in. monitors.

“NEP is at the forefront of delivering some of the world’s largest and most memorable productions,” says Jeff Smith, SVP, sales, Americas, Lawo. “The opportunity for Lawo to be a part of that by providing the core infrastructure for M15 is an absolute honor for us. The Lawo/NEP partnership is critical to our growth and innovation in North America and around the world. We are thankful to NEP for their continued trust and look forward to a long and successful relationship in the future.”

Six PowerCores are used for MADI, AES, and analog audio gateways to AES67. The IP router provides the infrastructure to support Grass Valley 86N cameras, including four high-frame-rate units; Kayenne X-Frame switcher; Calrec Artemis console; and EVS XT3 servers. Lawo VSM (Virtual Studio Manager) is the overall IP Broadcast Control and Orchestration System. Also integrated for ensuring network stability and security is Lawo’s SMART (System Monitoring and Realtime Telemetry) solution, which also integrates deep packet inspection and network-analyzing tools.

“We’ve fostered a great business relationship with Lawo over many years,” says Glen Levine, president, NEP U.S. “Their products and systems have offered NEP and our clients the flexible, distributed solutions we need for our trucks’ production infrastructure. M15 is just the latest example.”
