Eurovision Embraces BISS-CA to Improve SNG Operations
After extensive testing and evaluation of available encryption systems, Eurovision Services has decided to adopt the BISS-CA protocol alongside its existing proprietary HMCrypt system as the main technologies to protect transmissions on the Eurovision Global Network originating in teleports, SNGs and PoPs. Eurovision Services will implement BISS-CA encryption across its Eurovision Global Network beginning in 2020.

The BISS-CA protocol is particularly suited to SNG operations, since it can easily be integrated by the SNG operator and allows flexible management, in real time, of the receiver base that is entitled to receive transmissions. It also allows the encryption keys to be changed dynamically during a live event transmission and can incorporate forensic watermarking to determine the origin of any leaks.
Eurovision Services will start its first transmissions using the BISS-CA protocol at a regional level in early 2020 and aims to roll out the new technology on a global scale in the second half of 2020.
