Clark Wire & Cable Plays Important Role in Infrastructure of Orlando City SC’s Exploria Stadium

The Exploria Stadium is a new 25,500 person capacity Major League Soccer venue that was designed by the architectural firm Woods Bagot to host the Orlando City Soccer Club in Florida. Designed with modern architectural aesthetics, the Exploria Stadium has an open plaza design that allows for scenic views of the surrounding area on an all-natural grass field that sits eight feet below the street level, with a 360-degree bowl and lower concourse.

To engage and provide fan-centric experiences, the Exploria Stadium has unique beverage and viewing areas that provide comradery between like-minded fans that include; team-specific pubs, a balcony bar, private seating areas, open-air team supporter’s terrace, and a 360-degree scoreboard for maximum visibility. The stadium opened to great anticipation with Exploria Stadium’s first event that hosted the Orlando City Soccer Club versus the New York City Football Club.

To design and implement the AV and Broadcast systems for the Exploria Stadium, the Orlando City Soccer Club turned to WJHW for the design. A long time veteran and standard-bearer of stadium design, WJHW once again specified Clark Wire & Cable products for broadcast and AV portion of the stadium’s cable infrastructure. The most notable Clark Wire & Cable interconnect products specified include; SMPTE hybrid fiber camera cable, triax camera cable, category 6E network cable, single-mode optical fiber, and Clark’s MPAS modular fiber chassis system.

The on-site installation was performed by Clair Solutions, a leading installer, and integrator of AV, broadcast and data systems. A sizable installation that included all of the cabling for the audio, video, camera, and network systems – over 250,000 feet of Clark cable and 100 panels was used to complete the Exploria Stadium installation. Jim Devenney served as the Project Manager for the project, overseeing the installation of the broadcast and AV systems.

“Working with Clark Wire & Cable on the Exploria Stadium installation streamlined a large-scale and broadcast centric project that uses the latest in fiber optic and UHD technology,” he says. “Logistical assistance such as Clark grouping pallets and labeling reels based upon location greatly saved time on-site and reduced the chance of errors. Their fiber and camera interconnect systems delivered reliable and flexible interfacing that allowed us to use both fiber and copper-based formats with configurable routing between the camera’s and control units.”
