Telemundo Surrounds FIFA Women’s World Cup Australia & New Zealand 2023 With Multiplatform Programming

Telemundo, the exclusive Spanish-language home of the FIFA Women’s World Cup Australia & New Zealand 2023 presents its extensive multiplatform programming including dedicated coverage, ancillary programming and special editions of network shows to enhance the coverage of the with all 64 matches broadcasting live – 33 on Telemundo and 31 on Universo – and streaming live in Spanish on Peacock.

TELEMUNDO DEPORTES DEDICATED WOMEN’S WORLD CUP SHOWS 

La Antesala – July 17, 5 p.m. ET – Telemundo, Universo and Peacock: Telemundo Deportes’ one-hour show leading up to the kickoff of the Women’s World Cup offering soccer fans some of the most relevant competition storylines to set the scene for the tournament with information about the teams, players and coaches while showcasing their personalities and aspirations. Throughout the month-long event, every match will be preceded by a 30-minute pregame show led by the main hosts and commentary team.

Hoy en la Copa – Times VaryTelemundo or Universo and Peacock: The Emmy-nominated live preview and recap program, Hoy en la Copa/World Cup Today, is the network’s landmark FIFA World Cup show setting up the most important and exciting storylines of the event around select matches, including colorful content from the stadiums and training grounds as well as the fan festival. Telemundo Deportes’ Miguel Gurwitz, Ana Jurka, Carlota Vizmanos and Carlos Yustis will serve as hosts with the participation of all expert commentators.

Zona Mixta Weekends, 12 a.m. ET – Telemundo: The leading late-night weekend sports show will focus on the FIFA Women’s World Cup Australia & New Zealand 2023 for the duration of the tournament featuring a rotation of the main hosts and soccer experts joining from Australia and New Zealand. Experienced sports journalists and hosts Veronica Rodriguez will fill in for Ana Jurka and anchor studio coverage featuring reviews of each week’s matches with an irreverent and entertaining tone that invites fans to enjoy the biggest competition in the planet through a different lens.

Homenaje al Campeón August 20, 8 a.m. ET – Telemundo, Universo and Peacock: Following the final match, Telemundo Deportes’ Homenaje al Campeón /Homage to the Champion features the trophy ceremony, wraps up the action of the competition, recaps the best moments and highlights the journey of the winning team.

My New Favorite Futbolista/Mi Mundialista Favorita – Ongoing Podcast: In partnership with Telemundo Deportes, NBC owned stations’ recently announced bilingual podcast My New Favorite Futbolista/Mi Mundialista Favorita provides in-depth narratives covering emerging and established international soccer stars representing their countries in the 32-team tournament in Australia and New Zealand. Each 15 to 20-minute episode focuses on a different player or players.

WOMEN’S WORLD CUP HUB ON PEACOCK  

As the exclusive Spanish-language streaming home of the tournament, Peacock will host a Women’s World Cup Hub covering all the action and angles of the FIFA Women’s World Cup Australia & New Zealand 2023. The Hub will house all 64 live matches, on-demand full-match replays, extended highlights of iconic moments, player profiles and more. As of July 10, viewers can access content like the 30 best goals from the history of the tournament, clips from France 2019, and special packages about the stadiums, cities and people of Australia and New Zealand.

NETWORK SHOWS AND SPECIAL REPORTS  

In addition to the line-up of ancillary programming, Telemundo will tap on-air talent from the network’s top news and entertainment shows to touch on the event’s main storylines, including the network’s morning show Hoy Día, its daytime program En Casa con Telemundo, the network’s afternoon entertainment program La Mesa Caliente, its award-winning daily news show Noticias and top magazine news show Al Rojo Vivo. Exatlón Estados Unidos host Frederick Oldenburg will join the shows to provide match recaps, Ana Jurka will tune in live from Australia and New Zealand, and the shows will feature color stories from both host countries.

NoticiasVanessa Hauc will be covering the first week of matches from Auckland, New Zealand starting with the opening match and anchoring for the network’s news properties from iconic positions in Auckland.  Noticias coverage will include player profiles, fan stories, and a special focus on the participating Hispanic teams.
