TNT Sports to Produce First NHL DataCast powered by AWS Alternate Broadcast For Every Game of the 2024 Western Conference Final

Alternate broadcast will be delivered to linear television on truTV and streaming on Max

The NHL’s Western Conference Final begin on Thursday night and TNT Sports is on the scene in Dallas for Game 1 to provide exclusive coverage of the series between the Dallas Stars and the Edmonton Oilers.

TNT Sports’ Western Conference Final coverage will include the first-ever NHL DataCast powered by AWS – a new analytics-driven alternative broadcast that will be made available on linear television on truTV and streaming on Max.

The broadcast will use real-time data and insights from the NHL’s puck and player tracking system, NHL EDGE, to provide a more stat-driven and graphics-fueled presentation of the game. This alternative broadcast will be delivered alongside every game of the series.

NHL EDGE IQ powered by AWS is an advanced analytics service that includes data such as Face-Off Probability, Opportunity Probability, Ice Tilt (which is a metric to convey momentum of the game) and much more.

According to an official release from TNT Sports, the broadcasts will have their own announce team. Steve Mears will provide play-by-play, along with commentary from Colby Armstrong and Mike Kelly, NHL Network analyst and Director of Analytics and Insights for Sports Logiq.
