NAB 2023: VITEC Celebrates 35 Years of Innovation

VITEC is marking its 35-year anniversary at NAB 2023. Since 1988, VITEC has been a pioneer of IPTV, video streaming and digital signage solutions that help organisations harness the power of video to engage, empower and evolve. It continues to be led today by its founder and CEO, Philippe Wetzel.

Following a year of considerable growth for the company, VITEC will be demonstrating a host of user experience and workflow-enhancing additions and refinements across its suite of end-to-end IPTV platforms and video streaming solutions, as well as presenting the latest version of its ChannelLink IP Gateway.

“It’s exciting to be back at NAB in its 100th year, and we share in the celebrations with our own landmark 35th anniversary,” said Mark D’Addio, Senior Vice President of Sales, VITEC. “Visitors will see demos of our updated video streaming, IPTV and digital signage platforms, with new features that fall in line with our principles of productivity, flexibility, security and continually improving user experience.”

VITEC is showcasing an array of performance and workflow enhancements for broadcast applications, including the EZ TV and Avedia IPTV and digital signage platforms, which enable users to stream live and on-demand content, create and manage digital signage, and distribute TV and in- house content over existing networks.

The latest release of the EZ TV Platform, version 8.2, includes a wide range of enhancements across multiple modules, including: real-time end-point snapshots, providing operators with instant visual feedback of the HDMI output for the EP5 and EP5+; adding SRT, HEVC, and multi-view video playback in the EZ TV Player Lite HTML5 browser player; EZ TV Player app support for LG WebOS 6.0; Virtual remote interface for end-point control and SRT playback on the EZ TV Mobile Player app from a phone or tablet; OAuth 2.0 authentication for third-party data integrations with the EZ TV Dynamic Signage Manager; and support for AES-128 CBC streams in VITEC video wall processors.

VITEC is also highlighting the latest version of ChannelLink, its IP gateway, which enables efficient live video contribution for broadcast applications. ChannelLink extends VITEC’s IPTV distribution offering by enabling low latency and reliable delivery of IPTV content to remote employees or distant facilities.

In line with VITEC’s green initiative, ChannelLink now ensures optimal use of the inbound transmission link bandwidth: the new SmartLink feature ensures IP source feeds are requested only when needed, which reduces the overall network traffic and power consumption.

Additionally, in this new version, Zixi protocol and RTSP support have been added to comply with even more workflow requirements, including the capability to connect directly to IP cameras sources.

The Avedia Platform has several productivity-enhancing new features, including Device Location View, which provides the ability to visualize all IPTV end-points in a new floorplan view. Users can upload a floorplan image of their venue and view all devices in situ, particularly useful for making changes to content around a venue while on the move. Also, now available on the platform are Trigger Decks, a customisable and intuitive interface for quickly triggering multiple workflows. For example, in a multi-use stadium or arena environment that hosts a variety of events, the venue can be set up for these events at the push of a button.
