Lawo Sapphire Compact Gains NAMM TEC Award Nomination

Since 1985, the NAMM Foundation has recognized “the individuals, companies and technical innovations behind the sound of recordings, live performances, films, television, video games, and other media” with its TEC Awards for Technical Excellence and Creativity.

This year, Lawo’s sapphire compact mixing console is one of a handful nominated in the category of Technical Achievement – Small Format Console Technology. Lawo_sapphire_compact

“This nomination is both an honor and a surprise,” says Lawo Radio Marketing Specialist Clark Novak. “sapphire compact is designed for live-on-the-air radio production, but music and installed-sound professionals love it too. Clients say that sapphire compact is one of the most flexible radio mixing surfaces ever, because it can be personalized to work exactly the way your operators want it to.”
Available with 8 or 12 motorized faders, sapphire has big-console features like 5.1 mixing, snapshots to capture and recall custom operator workflows, one-button Autogain adaptive mic level trim, and Lawo’s sophisticated Automix hands-free mixing capability. Its compact 1RU engine includes DSP dynamics and EQ functions, accepts nearly any type of audio I/O, and works with AES67 and RAVENNA IP networks.
Each sapphire compact console includes Lawo’s VisTool screen-building software, which provides users with a customizable on-screen display of metering, dynamics, snapshots and other console settings, plus multi-touch support coupled with Ember+ for on-screen control of studio peripherals.
NAMM TEC Awards nominations are made by a panel of industry professionals and voted upon by members of various professional organizations and audio industry websites. This year’s winners will be presented at the 2017 NAMM Show in Anaheim, California, next January.
