Ross Video Provides 4K Graphics for National Christmas Tree Lighting

CGLA Studios implemented existing 4K graphics for the National Christmas Tree Lighting in Washington, DC, that aired on December 5, using Ross Video’s XPression Quad 4K Character Generator.

unnamed-2CGLA Studios is a graphics company based in Los Angeles that supplies Ross Video XPression rentals and training, graphic design, platform conversions and social media for live television shows. Chris Marsall from CGLA, was approached by production company, Bounce AEG who required 4K native graphics for the tree lighting.

“I spoke with a couple of graphics vendors, but I felt that Ross was closer to being there and so I worked with them on what I needed to make it happen,” says Chris Marsall, Owner and Executive Producer at CGLA. “The mobile company used was TNDV (Tennessee Digital Video), but their Ross XPression units were HD-SDI versions. As this was my first show using XPression in 4K, I contacted Ross Video, and they told me I could add an AJA Corvid88 Card to build a quad system, and also how to prepare the graphics for 4K.”

The National Christmas Tree Lighting aired on the Hallmark Channel in HD on December 5, but will air on Directv in UHD / 4K on December 20 and the 24.
