Raycom to deliver ACC Tourney in HD

The News Observer is reporting that basketball fans longing to see the Wolfpack, Tar Heels and Blue Devils in high-definition TV are getting good news just in time for March Madness. Raycom Sports, which distributes many ACC men’s basketball games along the East Coast, will broadcast the ACC Tournament in high definition (HD), said Colin Smith, vice president of distribution for the company.

Until now, Raycom and its broadcast partner, Lincoln Financial Sports, haven’t offered an HD package to local stations, such as WRAL in Raleigh. Smith, who said he has been the recipient of many angry e-mails on the subject, said he understands why fans who pay extra every month for a high-definition cable package would be miffed.
