TSN Celebrates Canada Day with NHL Free Agent Frenzy Show

TSN pays
tribute to

Canada’s favorite
pastime on

Canada’s
birthday, as the network turns its attention to hockey and the start of the
NHL’s free agency period with its first NHL on TSN: Free Agent Frenzy show,
airing this Sunday (July 1) from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. ET and 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. ET.
The program is also available live on TSN Broadband at www.TSN.ca and NHL
Network.

Hosted by
James Duthie, Free Agent Frenzy features TSN’s team of hockey experts and
correspondents in each Canadian NHL city, all of whom will provide breaking
news of the day’s transactions and instant analysis when the free agent market
opens for business at 12 noon ET.

TSN Hockey
Insiders Bob McKenzie and Darren Dreger, along with play-by-play voice Gord
Miller, will work the phones in-studio to break all the signings. Duthie
will be joined on the panel by TSN hockey analyst Pierre McGuire, as well as
TSN panelist Keith Jones and former Columbus Blue Jackets’ GM Doug MacLean,
each of whom will offer instant analysis and commentary. Duthie will also
conduct live interviews with players, coaches and GMs from around the league,
providing viewers with instant updates and reaction.

Dave Hodge
will be joined in-studio by the panel from his Sunday morning show, TSN The
Reporters With Dave Hodge (Steve Simmons, Michael Farber and David Naylor),
each of whom will provide opinions and analysis throughout the day.

From 2
p.m. to 6 p.m. ET on Sunday, TSN has live coverage of the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup
Series: LENOX Industrial Tools 300. Throughout the race, TSN will provide
updates of all NHL transactions. Following the NASCAR race at 6 p.m. ET,
a special 1-hour edition of Free Agent Frenzy will provide a recap and analysis
of all of the day’s activities.

Augmenting
TSN and TSN Broadband’s live coverage of Free Agent Frenzy, TSN.ca will have a
free agent tracker that can be accessed from both its main page and the site’s
NHL page. The tracker will provide an updated list of every free agent
signing, along with all other transactions made by teams this off-season.
In addition, TSN.ca features an ‘Off-Season Game Plan’ for each NHL team,
breaking down each organization’s strengths, weaknesses, needs and prospects by
position.

Free Agent
Frenzy is another component of TSN’s off-season NHL coverage. Last week’s
coverage of the NHL Entry Draft attracted a national average audience of
442,000 viewers in prime time, making it the second-most watched NHL Entry
Draft ever on TSN.
