Mike Milbury joins NESN as Bruins studio analyst

Boston
,
MA – NESN,
New
England’s most watched sports network, announced that former
Bruins player and coach Mike Milbury has joined NESN as a Bruins studio analyst
for the network’s pre-game, post game and intermission programming.

“We are
thrilled to have Mike join our team of outstanding studio analysts,” said Joel
Feld, NESN’s vice president of programming and executive producer. “He
brings incredible passion, experience, candor and depth of knowledge about the
Bruins and the league. This season, we are significantly ramping up our Bruins
hockey coverage and Mike is a big part of our plans.”

“I’m very
happy to be joining the NESN team,” said Milbury. “This opportunity is
giving me a chance to be connected once again with the organization that I
cheered for growing up and broke into the league with both as a player and a
coach.”

Milbury, a

Massachusetts
native, spent 11 seasons with the Bruins as a defenseman playing in over 750
games. After retiring as a player, he stayed in the organization as head
coach of the Maine Mariners before returning to

Boston for two years as the Bruins head
coach, leading the Bruins to the Stanley Cup finals during the 1989-90
season. In 1995 Milbury was hired by the New York Islanders where he
served as general manager as well as 3 stints as head coach. In June 2006
he stepped down from his role as general manager to take a position as Senior
Vice President and resigned from that position in May 2007. In addition
to his duties at NESN, Milbury will also serve as a studio analyst for NBC’s
national coverage of the NHL beginning in January 2008.

Milbury
will replace Tom Fitzgerald who has accepted a position as director of player
personnel for the Pittsburgh Penguins. The remainder of NESN’s Bruins
studio team will be announced in a few weeks.

NESN has
been the home of the Boston Bruins since 1984 and is scheduled to televise 71
regular season Bruins games this season. Last season NESN became
the first regional sports network in the NHL to televise every game in high
definition (HD). Bruins broadcasts on NESN earned the 3rd highest average
household rating on a regional sports network of all NHL teams in the

U.S. last
season.
