Kansas State University Chooses Daktronics to Add Sportsound System to Football Complex

Kansas

State
University recently chose Daktronics of Brookings,
S.D., to install an updated audio system in Bill Snyder Family Stadium in

Manhattan,
Kan.
The new addition, to be completed prior to the start of the 2007 season, is
another piece of a truly integrated system designed to enhance the total fan
experience at Wildcat football games.

The custom
Sportsound solution built for

Kansas

State includes a
pre-manufactured, self-contained speaker system weighing over a half-ton. The
new state-of-the-art cabinet uses a single point source which provides smooth
and even coverage throughout the entire facility. By installing an integrated
speaker module with premium components and digital sound processing,

Kansas
State
is ensuring excellent sound projection, clear and intelligible speech, and a
powerful audio experience for their fans.

“The
new system will be a vast improvement over what we have had in the past,”
said Charles Thomas, Assistant Athletic Director for Facility Operations at

Kansas
State.
“It will provide some much needed sound reinforcement in certain areas in
the stadium. We chose Daktronics because they have proven products, are a
good company, and stand behind their products.”

“Working
with K-State has been a great experience,” said John Olsen, of Daktronics
Sportsound division. “They are very excited about improving the fan
experience, and the new sound system will definitely accomplish that by focusing
fan attention at the scoreboard when video is played and announcements are
made. You’ll hear and feel the low frequencies when music is played, be able to
understand game announcers, and when someone sings you’ll get the full effect
of live music.”

As a
division of Daktronics, Sportsound offers high-quality audio systems that can
integrate with dynamic displays in indoor and outdoor sport venues. Sportsound
has established itself as one of the only contractors in the

United States
that can provide pre-manufactured, self-contained stadium sound systems.

The
Sportsound system is only the latest of many Daktronics upgrades at Bill Snyder
Family Stadium. Just last year, the Wildcats installed a fully integrated
display system on the south side of the stadium, which includes a large ProStar
display, measuring approximately 23 feet high by 61 feet wide, and two ProAd digital
displays, each measuring approximately five feet high by 28 feet wide.

Also
behind the south end zone sits two auxiliary ProAd LED displays, each measuring
6 feet high by 42 feet wide. On the north end of the stadium, a ProStar LED
video display, measuring approximately 13 feet high by 23 feet wide, helps keep
fans informed along with a custom LED scoring section for in-game scoring and
timing information. Outside of Bill Snyder Family Stadium, Wildcat fans are now
welcomed by a new LED message display.
