Collegiate Images To Manage National Football Foundation’s Historic Video Library

The
National Football Foundation & College Football Hall of Fame (NFF) is
partnering with Collegiate Images (CI) to preserve, promote, and protect its library
of college-football content. Through CI’s digitization solutions, millions of
fans around the world will have access to an unprecedented level of interactive
football content that, until now, has been available only to those who make
the trip to the College Football Hall of Fame in South Bend, IN.
“Our goal was to enter into a true partnership that would utilize Collegiate Images’ unparalleled operational expertise for the development and marketing of the NFF’s extensive video library,” says NFF President/CEO Steven J. Hatchell. “Collegiate Images is solely focused on the college marketplace with a wide-ranging library of football footage that nicely complements the NFF’s mission of ‘Building Leaders Through Football’ and promoting our sport.”

For more than 60 years, the College Football Hall of Fame has been accumulating a collection of moments in college-football history that, until now, have resided largely in tape format on the Hall’s shelves, inaccessible to the majority of fans. Through this partnership, all of the content housed within the Hall’s archives will soon be digitized and preserved forever, with the goal of creating a fully indexed and searchable Virtual Hall of Fame. This initiative will put thousands of hours of film and video featuring the rich tradition of the game, along with decades of induction ceremonies, at the fingertips of millions of fans across the globe.

“With this new partnership, Collegiate Images will be able to package, protect, market, and license the National Football Foundation’s rich library across all forms of interactive media,” says CI EVP Mark Geddis. “Just as important, we’ll be preserving the Hall of Fame’s most treasured moments and promoting the NFF’s mission and the sport.”

With an arsenal of newly digitized content at its disposal, the NFF will also be able to explore new revenue and marketing channels. Concepts in the works include creation of branded or sponsored original programming and digitally syndicated online videos, such as “This Week in College Football History” and “The Road to the National Championship.”

The primary goal of the three-year partnership between the NFF and CI centers on a strong commitment from both organizations to creatively promote college football, enhancing the enjoyment of fans nationwide. CI’s marketplace expertise and the NFF’s extensive library are a powerful combination for taking some of college football’s most treasured content and producing highly relevant programming that will dramatize the history of the game to an ever broadening audience of fans and potential fans.
