Comcast: Go Blackhawks, Capitals, Sharks and Flyers

Comcast Sports Group has four favorite NHL teams: the Chicago Blackhawks, the Washington Capitals, the San Jose Sharks, and the Philadelphia Flyers.

The reason: Ratings on the hockey clubs’ respective regional sports networks—Comcast SportsNet Chicago, Mid-Atlantic, Bay Area, and Philadelphia—rose by an average of 56% versus the prior season.

CSN Chicago posted a 100% increase for the 2008-09 NHL season versus 2007-08, averaging 44,000 households, or a 1.26 rating.

CSN Mid-Atlantic saw a gain of 65%, averaging 25,300 households, or a 1.1 rating.

CSN Bay Area’s 33,600 households and 1.4 were good for a 56% jump.

And CSN Philadelphia rose 4% to 72,000 households and a 2.4.
