Rimage Supplies Sports Video Solutions to Specialty Broadcasting Channels

Rimage, a provider of on-demand digital publishing systems, recently supplied Speed TV and NBA TV with solutions to manage and distribute content on DVD and Blu-ray Disc (BD).

Speed TV, the “Motor Sports Authority for racing news, info, schedules, results, and commentary,” purchased a Rimage 7100N for their Charlotte, NC, broadcasting headquarters. NBA TV, the television specialty channel dedicated to showcasing the NBA, purchased a 5400N system for use in their new Secaucus, NJ, facility.

The Rimage 7100N and 5400N are all-in-one automatic disc publishing and duplication systems with direct-to-disc printing, and are part of Rimage’s Sports Video Solutions. The hands-free, file-based solutions are designed to export sports content to high-quality DVD or BD for quick, universal distribution and secure archiving. The Sports Video Solutions integrate with various editing platforms, as well as cameras, to streamline workflow and boost the content offload, archive, and distribution process.

Both networks will use the Rimage systems in their editing and control rooms to produce internal review copies of their content, as well as to distribute content to mobile production trucks in the field. With the help of the Rimage DiscFlow client — an application enabling remote job submission and service — Speed TV and NBA TV can hook the 7100N and 5400N system directly into their network, enabling multiple editors to submit jobs directly to the system.  Because the Rimage solutions can be used as an archive appliance, Speed TV anticipates using their 7100N to archive P2 content from their cameras directly to optical media for secure and durable long-term storage.
