Jacksonville State University Adds Daktronics LED Displays at Rudy Abbott Field, University Field

Daktronics has been asked by Jacksonville State University (JSU) in Alabama, to design, manufacture, and install two new LED video displays for Rudy Abbott Field and University Field, the school’s home for baseball and softball events, respectively. Installation is slated for early this year to be ready for the 2018 season.

“We are thrilled with the opportunity to enhance our experience for our student-athletes and fans with new Daktronics video and scoreboards at baseball, softball and tennis,” says JSU Athletic Director Greg Seitz. “We are pleased to continue our Daktronics partnership and these new displays keep us on the cutting edge of game presentation. We think our fans of every age will really enjoy the new experience that we will be able to provide.”

The new video display at Rudy Abbott Field will measure 15.5 feet high x 35 feet wide. The display at University Field will measure 13 feet high x 24 feet wide. Both displays will feature 15HD pixel layouts to bring crisp, vivid imagery to Gamecocks fans in every seat of each venue.

Both displays are capable of variable content zoning which allows each to show one large image or to be divided into multiple zones to show any combination of live video, instant replays, up-to-the-minute statistics, graphics and animations, and sponsorship messages.

“We’re grateful to extend our long-standing relationship with JSU on these facility upgrades,” says Daktronics Sales Representative Glen Marts. “These are the first video displays for baseball and softball on their campus and the tennis scoreboard will provide up-to-the-minute information to fans that simply wasn’t available before. The entire project will further enhance the game-day atmosphere for Gamecocks fans of multiple sports on campus.”

Daktronics will also be including its Show Control System with this installation. This system provides a combination of display control software, video processing, data integration, and playback hardware that forms a user-friendly production solution.

The project also includes a Daktronics fixed-digit scoreboard for baseball to provide all of the statistics that fans crave, including at-bat, ball, strike, out, inning scores, runs, hits, and error information.

Additionally, the JSU tennis courts will receive a fixed-digit scoreboard to keep tennis fans informed and engaged at each event.

Daktronics LED video and messaging display technology features environmental protection for a long lifetime with consistent performance and low power consumption, providing value and excitement for years to come.
