Twitter, adidas Reup for Season 2 of Friday Night Stripes

Coming off the inaugural season of Friday Night Stripes – the first-ever live streaming series of high school football games on Twitter – adidas, Twitter, and Intersport announced Friday Night Stripes Season 2 will launch this fall.

One year ago, the three brands set out to innovate and inspire Friday night high school football by creating Friday Night Stripes. The series generated over 32.6M total video views and over 15.6M total live viewers tuned in to watch some of the best teams in the nation, and ultimately Friday Night Stripes Season 1 was nominated for several awards, including the 2019 IDEA Best Branded Content Award and Campaign of the Year, the Digiday Content Marketing Awards for Best Real-Time Streaming Video, and Sports Business Journal’s 2019 Best in Social Media Award.

“We take pride in helping shape the future of sports and the first season of Friday Night Stripes created a best-in-class digital experience and highlighted the vision for adidas Football,” said Cameron Collins, Director, adidas Football. “As we continue to elevate and amplify the high school football experience for millions of fans, Friday Night Stripes Season 2 is set to showcase some of the most highly-touted games and top-ranked high school teams across the nation.”

Returning to announce the Season 2 games are ESPN and SEC Network’s play-by-play announcer Courtney Lyle, with analysis by Super Bowl XLV Champion A.J. Hawk, formerly of the Green Bay Packers. Additionally, special guests will make appearances and join the play calling throughout the series of games, including adidas Football NFL athletes and entertainment partners and influencers.

“Coming off of an incredible, never been done before, first season of Friday Night Stripes, we are excited to run it back with adidas and Intersport. The high school sports community on Twitter is not only massive, but extremely passionate and engaged,” said TJ Adeshola, Head of US Sports Partnerships, Twitter. “Friday Night Stripes gives us the fantastic opportunity to showcase the future of sport – the culture, the lifestyle, the swagger – in an innovative way, directly to the timelines of fans all over the globe.”
