SVG’s Silicon Valley Video Initiative Meets With Blackmagic Design on April 8

SVG’s Silicon Valley Video has announced the program for its next virtual meeting on April 8 at 5 pm PST/8 pm EST. The group will be hosting a demo and discussion with Blackmagic Design about its newly introduced ATEM Mini Extreme live production switcher.

Blackmagic Design introduced its now ubiquitous ATEM Mini switcher several years back at a Silicon Valley Video Producers Meetup at Google. Its feature set, at an under-$300 price-point, was a jaw-dropper, but many video producers, now in full-scale remote production/streaming mode, asked for a more pro-grade version, even if it meant at a higher cost. Blackmagic Design responded in 2020 with the ATEM Mini Pro and ATEM Mini Pro ISO models, and late last month introduced their new ATEM Mini Extreme ($995) and ATEM Mini Extreme ISO ($1,295), which will be the subject of this month’s deep-dive demo and discussion.

As part of this month’s program, the SVV program will conclude with a new “speed meeting” experience where attendees will have the option to participate in brief and random, one-on-one conversations with other attendees.
