Microsoft Links With SES to Offer Satellite Networking to Cloud Customers

As data and video workloads increasingly move to the cloud, major Cloud Service Providers are recognizing the powerful role of satellite in augmenting core network services for enterprise customers, now and in the future.

The Medium Earth Orbit (MEO) is ideally suited to cloud services, as reflected in Microsoft’s decision to leverage SES’s MEO offerings to bring network diversity and service resilience to its Azure Orbital solutions. Starting with O3b Networks and then migrating to next-gen O3b mPOWER in 2022, Azure will benefit from the flexibility, low-latency, and gigabit connectivity that only SES’s satellite-enabled MEO networks can deliver.

With this announcement, SES and Microsoft expand their partnership in a firm validation of SES’s strategic approach to cloud services.
