SVG On Demand: SVG Australia Summit Panel Advocates for Gender Equality in the Workplace

NEP's Grace Haywood and Gerry O’Leary; RISE's Shauna Purcell; and Amazon Media Services' Louise Stigwood offered their thoughts

For the first time since prior to the COVID-19 outbreak in early 2020, Sports Video Group returned to Sydney for the SVG Australia Summit. Hosted at the Telstra Customer Insight Centre in Sydney on June 1, the event was an opportunity for the Australian sports production community to come together for an afternoon of networking and information exchange around the topic of the future of the sports TV production and distribution.

SVGW Australia, a joint project between NEP and SVG, was formed two years ago and is making a difference for women working in the business of sport. The goal of the organization is to encourage more women to take on leadership positions and provide role models for future generations. At the 2022 SVG Australia Summit, a panel of industry leaders addressed why gender equality in sports production is not only the right thing to do, but also the smart thing to do.

Panelists:
Grace Haywood, NEP Hub Sydney, Operations Coordinator and SVGW Mentee
Gerry O’Leary, NEP Australia, Training Manager and SVGW Mentor Program Administrator
Shauna Purcell, RISE: A Group for Gender Diversity in Media Technology, Head of Australia/New Zealand and Avid Audio Partner Account Manager & Head of Marketing ANZ
Louise Stigwood, Amazon Media Services, Head of Enterprise ANZ
