Warner Bros. Discovery Sports to Showcase Expansive Multi-Platform Coverage of NBA All-Star 2023 from Salt Lake City

Warner Bros. Discovery Sports will pull out all the stops for NBA All-Star 2023 from Salt Lake City including more than 35 hours of original live programming across its networks and platforms throughout the week, as well as innovative fan experiences that celebrate the intersection of basketball and culture.

 

The 72nd NBA All-Star Game presented by Kia on Sunday, Feb. 19, will be televised on TNT — the network’s 21st consecutive year airing the All-Star Game — from Vivint Arena, with Team LeBron taking on Team Giannis, featuring starters Giannis Antetokounmpo, Luka Doncic, Joel Embiid, Kyrie Irving,LeBron James, Nikola Jokic, Lauri Markkanen, Donovan Mitchell, Ja Morant and Jayson Tatum.

Brian Anderson will call the game for the first time, alongside Reggie Miller (his 16th time providing NBA All-Star Game analysis) and Candace Parker, making her NBA All-Star Game commentating debut and the first woman to call an NBA All-Star Game. Dennis Scott will provide sideline reporting throughout the telecast, his second time doing so.

This year’s NBA All-Star coverage will also include the return of “Inside the All-Star Game,” an innovative viewing experience on TBS featuring the Sports Emmy Award-winning studio team of Ernie Johnson, Charles Barkley, Shaquille O’Neal and Kenny Smith, and four-time NBA Champion Draymond Green. Along with an incomparable blend of unscripted and entertaining commentary, the TBS telecast will include the NBA All-Stars wearing mics, allowing an opportunity to listen in live at any moment during the game. Coverage will also include locker room access and other behind-the-scenes capabilities, bringing fans closer to the game than ever before.

During the game, fans will also be able to enjoy a complementary live stream experience on Twitter —NBA Twitter Live. A live poll will be available via @NBA throughout the entire first half of the NBA All-Star Game, whereby fans can vote for the player they want an iso-cam to follow during the second half. Taylor Rooks will host the show with Jamal Crawford and Channing Frye.

At 7:30 p.m. EST, TNT and TBS will simulcast the first-ever NBA All-Star Draft presented by Jordan Brand conducted live before the game, with the two captains, James and Antetokounmpo, selecting their teams from a pool of starters and reserves.

The evening’s coverage will begin at 6 p.m. with a special 90-minute NBA All-Star Tip-Off presented by CarMax on TNT highlighted by an extended conversation between coaching legend Mike Krzyzewskiand the NBA’s new all-time scoring leader James. Chris Haynes will be providing reports throughout the pregame telecast.

The NBA All-Star Game presented by Kia is the culmination of an expansive slate of highly anticipated live events, original programming and interactive cross-platform content experiences being delivered by WBD Sports throughout the week.

On Saturday, Feb. 18 at 6 p.m., TNT will air The Sum, presented by 15 Seconds of Fame – All Star Music Battle, the first-ever singing competition show with live fan participation, produced by Anagram Studios. GRAMMY nominated recording artists Wiz Khalifa and Bebe Rexha and their superfans will square off in a head-to-head singing battle.  Fans watching at home will be able to vote on the best performance with the winner revealed during the NBA Tip-Off pregame show. Cincoro Tequila will be an official partner of The Sum on TNT.

Later at 6:30 p.m., a special 90-minute NBA Tip-Off presented by CarMax pregame with Johnson, Barkley, O’Neal, Smith, and reporting by Haynes, will lead into State Farm All-Star Saturday Night, beginning at 8 p.m. Kevin Harlan, Miller, and Green will provide commentary during the Kia All-Star Skills Challenge, Starry 3-Point Contest and AT&T Slam Dunk, with Lefkoe conducting on-court player interviews. Inside the NBA’s Smith will join the call during the AT&T Slam Dunk, and O’Neal will be courtside capturing moments for the telecast and Bleacher Report with the Shaq Cam powered by AT&T 5G. Rooks will host a special NBA Twitter Live postgame show with Crawford and Frye, following the conclusion of the competitions.

TNT’s NBA All-Star coverage will begin Friday, Feb. 17, with the Jordan Rising Stars game at 9 p.m. The basketball showcase will feature four teams comprised of 28 of the NBA’s and NBA G League’s best young talent, with NBA legends Pau Gasol, Joakim Noah, Deron Williams and Jason Terry serving as honorary head coaches. Lefkoe, Crawford, Parker and Stephanie Ready will provide commentary for the game.

Along with its televised coverage of NBA All-Star, WBD Sports will host two live fan experiences onsite in Salt Lake City:

The fan-focused NBA on TNT American Express Road Show will return Thursday, Feb. 16 at The Complex in downtown Salt Lake City, with doors opening at 4:30 p.m. MST (6:30 p.m. EST). The free event will include a live broadcast featuring the iconic Inside the NBA studio team, NBA on TNT attractions and concessions, and musical performances by GRAMMY nominated recording artists Wiz Khalifa and Chloe Bailey.

On Sunday, Feb. 19, Bleacher Report will get fans ready for the All-Star Game with B/R Utah, a free immersive fan experience located at 750 South 500 West in Salt Lake City from 2-5:30 p.m. MST (4-7:30 p.m. EST). Fans in attendance will get an opportunity to compete in head-to-head basketball-themed activations for a chance to win prizes, Skills Challenge presented by State Farm featuring a basketball obstacle course, and NBA Trivia with TikTok comedy duo The Broadcast Boys.

The afternoon of content will spotlight top talent and franchises, including live broadcasts of Through the Wire (4:15 p.m. ET on YouTube) and the Taylor Rooks X presented by State Farm vodcast (6 p.m. ETin the B/R app), as well as a live installment of House of Highlights’ Creator League 2v2 basketball tournament featuring a match-up between CashNasty and Bree Green vs. Marcelas Howard andDipika (5 p.m. ET on the Creator League YouTube and TikTok channels). The event will end with a special live musical performance by GRAMMY Award-nominated and diamond-certified producer, DJ, and artist Metro Boomin.

Tuesday, Feb. 14

  • The NBA on TNT Tuesday Pregame Show presented by CarMax will tip off at 7 p.m. with Lefkoe, O’Neal, Parker and Crawford, preceding an NBA on TNT Tuesday Night doubleheader featuring teams in playoff position heading into the All-Star break.
  • Antetokounmpo and the Milwaukee Bucks will host Tatum and the Boston Celtics at 7:30 p.m. in a battle of the Eastern Conference’s top two seeds. Anderson, Stan Van Gundy and Jared Greenberg will be on the call.
  • Later at 10 p.m., the defending NBA Champion Golden State Warriors will travel to take on the LA Clippers and Kawhi Leonard. Ian Eagle, Miller and Haynes will provide commentary.

Thursday, Feb. 16 

  • TNT NBA Tip-Off presented by CarMax will start things off at 7 p.m. with Johnson, Barkley, O’Neal, and Smith, live from NBA on TNT American Express Road Show in Salt Lake City.
  • At 7:30 p.m., DeMar DeRozan and the Chicago Bulls will host the Bucks, with Anderson, Van Gundy and Nabil Karim on the call.
  • At 10 p.m., the LA Clippers will travel to take on Devin Booker and the Phoenix Suns. Spero Dedes, Jim Jackson and Scott will provide commentary.

Saturday, Feb. 18 

  • At 4 p.m., TNT, ESPN2 and NBA TV will simulcast the 2nd NBA HBCU Classic presented by AT&T, featuring the Southwestern Athletic Conference matchup between the Grambling State University and Southern University men’s basketball teams from the University of Utah’s Jon M. Huntsman Center in Salt Lake City.
