Mediapro Colombia Operates the VAR System for the Final of the Superliga BetPlay

Colombia has recently crowned the first national champion of the new year. Nacional and Pereira, the 2022 League Champions fought it out last Thursday in the return leg of the Superliga at the Atanasio Girardot Stadium in Medellín. The game featured VAR technology provided by Mediapro Colombia.

For the first final of 2023, Mediapro Colombia showcased its logistical and operational capabilities for the División Mayor del Fútbol Colombiano (Dimayor) as well as putting in place a team of VAR technicians for the successful management of the system.

The final of the Colombian champion of champions competition, is the 12th final which has featured VAR technology since its launch in Colombia. The first was in 2019 when América de Cali played Junior de Barranquilla for the League with the last VAR final being the clash between Pereira and Medellín.

Since the end of 2019, the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) has been operational in 750 matches across the major league and cup competitions in Colombia.
