Big Boards on Campus: What’s New in Videoboard Shows in College Athletics?

A panel of industry leaders share their best work and offer their takes on how in-venue shows at college venues are bigger than ever

The college football season is underway but with a gigantic Week 1 on deck with this weekend, on-campus stadiums will be packed to the gills for the first big gameday of the season.

These days, videoboards and the teams that program are as big and as bright as any show you’ll see at the professional sports level. So as boards get bigger, the resolution gets sharper, and expectations raise higher, how are video teams within collegiate athletic departments rising to the occasion?

In this panel discussion from the 2023 SVG College Summit, industry pros from across the country come together to share some of their best work and offer their advice on where they see the in-stadium videoboard show headed.

Panelists for this discussion include:
Mike Bilbow, University of Georgia, Assistant Athletic Director, Digital and Production
Mike Bonner, Tepper Sports & Entertainment, Senior Director/Executive Producer – Game Presentation & Production
Grantscott Greene, University of Houston, Assistant AD for Content Solutions
Stefan Tribble, Ross Video, Solution Specialist – Sports & Live Events

The conversation is moderated by SVG’s Senior Editor Kristian Hernández.

This panel was hosted at the 2023 SVG College Summit in Atlanta on June 1, 2023.
