Yahoo Sports Bolsters Executive Leadership Team With Two New Hires

Yahoo Sports announces the addition of two new sports business veterans to its senior leadership team: George Leimer as Head of Product & Technology and Sam Farber as General Manager of Rivals.com.

“With the additions of George and Sam to the Yahoo Sports team, we’re primed to strengthen our presence in the sports and fantasy landscape,” says Ryan Spoon, President of Yahoo Sports. “As we continue to double down on our product experience and fantasy growth, both George and Sam will be key leaders and bring a wealth of experience to our leadership team.”

In his new role as Head of Product & Technology, Leimer will oversee product development and innovation across the Yahoo Sports and Yahoo Fantasy platforms. Prior to joining Yahoo, Leimer served as CEO of Rally, a platform that allows for buying and selling equity in collectibles. He previously spent nearly five years at ESPN, where he led the rebuild and growth of ESPN Fantasy, and additionally held key positions at The Walt Disney Company, Apple, eBay and more.

As General Manager, Farber will lead the Rivals.com business, the original and longest standing football and basketball recruiting news service with over 20 years of leading content, expert rankings. Since Yahoo acquired Rivals.com in 2007, the site has become the largest network of college and high school fan sites and communities, covering over 100 schools and states. Before joining Yahoo, Farber spent over a decade at the NBA League Office, leading the league’s overall digital strategy, partnerships and business development. In 2021, he joined Goldin where he oversaw all aspects of the business and spearheaded a suite of partnerships across sports, media, entertainment and collectibles firms.
