Latino Heritage Month: San Francisco 49ers’ Sarina Soriano on Honoring Community, Fanbase With ‘Latinos Unidos’ Creative Video

As we head towards the conclusion of Latino and Hispanic Heritage Month, one NFL club — the San Francisco 49ers — paid homage to the people that make up their local communities in the Bay Area and the many cultures of their fanbase with their “Latinos Unidos” creative video. Led by Senior Producer Sarina Soriano, who is the first female Senior Producer in the club’s 77-year history and one of the first Latina cinematographers in the NFL, the video was played in Levi’s Stadium during the team’s home opener vs. the New York Giants on Thursday Night on Sept. 21.

In this interview, Soriano breaks down what influenced the pieces seen in the video, the challenges of shooting content at multiple locations over the span of two days, the other individuals on the all-Latino crew, why it’s important for Latinos and Latinas to be represented in visual media, and what it meant for her to work on this project.
