Ross Production Services Rolls Out New Tech for the Tip-Off Celebration and Awards Gala for the Basketball Hall of Fame

More interior space inside and additional Ross Video equipment enhance workflow efficiency

This year’s Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame enshrinement ceremony celebrated the induction of legendary figures in basketball history. For the second year in a row, Ross Production Services (RPS) played a pivotal role by supplying equipment and technology for the event’s Tip-Off Celebration and Awards Gala, ensuring a seamless experience for both the attendees and the audience watching from home.

RPS deployed the newly upgraded FIN3 mobile unit for the event at Mohegan Sun Casino & Resort in Connecticut. A larger cabin space offers a more efficient workflow and, along with the Ross Video equipment inside, enabled the production team to move from an all-Ross control room into an all-Ross truck. And the quick setup allowed more time for rehearsals.

FIN3 is packed with Ross gear: the Carbonite Ultra60 production switcher, TouchDrive TD3S 3 M/E control panel, Ultrix FR5 160×160 video/audio router with MADI, SRG-4500 master reference and test-signal generator, XPression real-time motion graphic system, and Mira+ replay server.

The significantly upgraded infrastructure features six Sony HDCU-3500 cameras, a Calrec Brio36 digital audio console (with 36 dual-layer faders and a 96-channel optional upgrade), a Hydra2 network with two fiber field kits, MultiDyne’s VF9000 fiber transport platform providing 18 video feeds per fiber field kit, and an iPad for music.

“We are thrilled to collaborate with WBD Sports on prestigious events like the Tip-Off Celebration and Awards Gala as part of the Enshrinement Weekend for the Basketball Hall of Fame,” says Nick Minore, business manager, Ross Production Services. “Working on this event again speaks volumes about the dedication and expertise of RPS, and we are truly grateful for the opportunity to contribute to the NBA’s success.”

The FIN3 name was introduced at the NAB Show 10 years ago as Ross Video’s concept for openTruck. Since then, it has become an integral part of the company’s operations.

“We’re proud to be re-introducing our FIN3 mobile unit with a brand-new Mercedes Sprinter 4500 chassis, all-new equipment, and our latest workflows,” says Minore. “The FIN name stands true—Future Is Now—and we’re excited for FIN3 to hit the road this football season.”
