PixMob Partners with The Professional Women’s Hockey League to Illuminate the Fans at Their Opener Games

PixMob announces its official partnership with The Professional Women’s Hockey League in North America, illustrating the company’s support of women’s sports while delivering fan experiences with their wristband technology.

At the 2024 season opener games in Toronto and Ottawa, PWHL fans enjoyed PixMob’s immersive lighting experience. PixMob’s partnership with PWHL follows a wave of positivity and support around women in sport and entertainment that continued into 2024. Over the last year, women’s sports have seen a boost in ticket sales and an increase in fan bases across North America. However, there continues to be major discrepancies in the amount of attention, sponsorship and overall hype allocated to female athletes, teams and leagues. In comparison to their male counterparts, women’s sports teams and events receive less funding, media coverage and fan-engagement opportunities, leading to lower ticket sales and, ultimately, lower compensation. To combat this cycle, PixMob teamed up with The Professional Women’s Hockey League in North America to supercharge the experience for the fans in 2024.
“We are extremely proud to become an official sponsor of the Professional Women’s Hockey League in Canada,” says Vincent Leclerc, CEO of PixMob.“When it comes to women in sports and live entertainment, we believe that we are still far from an even playing field. This partnership is the first step of PixMob’s company-wide initiative to advance the role of women in the industries we serve.”
“As a Canadian company committed to igniting fan joy, we are very excited to leverage our innovative technology to celebrate the world’s best women hockey players. Thanks to our sustainable LED wristbands we created two fan-fuelled immersive activations for the first games in Toronto on Jan 1st and Ottawa on Jan 2nd; the first step of many in igniting a brighter future for women in the world of sports,” says Pauline Rosen, vice president of marketing at PixMob.
While this is the first major step in PixMob’s commitment to advance women in sports and entertainment, the company has more than 15 years of experience designing technology solutions that elevate live experiences. Its wearable tech has powered live sports events for all major professional sports leagues, including five Super Bowls. Additionally, PixMob has had the opportunity to work with many high-profile artists including Coldplay, Imagine Dragons, Maroon 5, Swedish House Mafia, Karol G, Grupo Firme and more.
