University of Texas’s Jeff Hanel To Keynote 16th-Annual SVG College Summit

Industry vet to discuss uniting live and creative in athletic department media arms and the Longhorns' big move to the SEC

Sports Video Group is pleased to announce that a keynote conversation with Jeff Hanel, Assistant Athletics Director, Video Production for the University of Texas at Austin will highlight this year’s SVG College Summit (May 29-30, Atlanta).

The Longhorns are currently undergoing a massive facility build in preparation for the school’s historic move to the Southeastern Conference (SEC). Hanel will share an insiders’ perspective on how he and his team built out their staff and designed their multi-control room live production headquarters on the Austin campus.

He will also offer his perspectives on the theme of this year’s Summit: the blending of the live and creative sides of video production in the collegiate athletics space. How are university athletic departments setting themselves up to thrive in a new era of live content demands (both broadcast and in-venue videoboard), a competitive creative and social media space, the volatile world of NIL, and more?

Hanel first joined the University of Texas at Austin in 2021 as their Director of Creative Video. Since, he has taken on more of a leadership role overseeing all sides of video production for the Longhorns, including in-venue videoboards and, eventually, broadcast. He has a long career in college sports video, including tenures at Auburn University (2014-21), Baylor University (2012-14), and Northwestern State University (2009-12).
