NBA To Stream First Regular Season Game via Facebook Live

For the first time, the NBA will stream a regular-season game via Facebook Live. On Sunday, Jan. 8, the NBA will stream the Sacramento Kings-Golden State Warriors matchup to fans in India across the Facebook Pages of the NBA, the Kings and the Warriors.  This game marks the Kings’ fourth annual Bollywood Night, a celebration of traditional Indian culture, cinema and music.

Fans in India can follow the action and join the telecast on the NBA Facebook page. The broadcast will also be available on the Kings’ and Warriors’ Facebook pages and will feature every moment of the game, as well as in-arena entertainment and games, performances from the Sacramento Kings Dancers and special guests, as well as the Bollywood-style introductions and graphics on the arena 4K Ultra HD videoboard, VSP SKEYE View. The Facebook stream will feature the league’s newly released “NBA Mobile View” feed, delivering a closer shot of the action optimized for viewing on the smaller screens of tablets and phones.

The Kings-Warriors game will mark the highest-profile sporting event to be streamed on Facebook Live. Over the summer, the NBA live-streamed nine USA Basketball exhibition games, five from the men’s team and four from the women’s, leading up to the Rio Olympics. In addition, the Orlando Magic streamed a pre-season game on Facebook Live in October. NBA TV and Facebook Live also teamed up to stream morning shootarounds for NBA TV Fan Night games.

Among the other sporting events to be live-streamed on the platform are Showtime Boxing, Fox’s Live@ The World Series pre-game show, Atlantic 10 men’s basketball, Conference USA football (via BeIN Sports), and National Women’s Soccer League games, among others.
