Drones Take Flight Inside MSG: How Sky Candy Studios Is Upping the Excitement for Knicks, Rangers Playoff Series

Sky Candy Studios is currently collaborating with Madison Square Garden to create high-impact FPV drone video content throughout the New York Knicks and New York Rangers’ playoff runs. The studio captures dramatic pre-game and in-game content via its custom drone that is integrated into the in-venue videoboard show at MSG, as well as other broadcast and streaming outlets.

In addition to using a drone to capture how MSG is transformed prior to a 2023 Knicks game, Sky Candy also received plenty of attention for its MLB Opening Day drone flythrough at Wrigley Field last season. The company has also worked with dozens of other major sports teams, leagues, and broadcasters to produce dramatic drone-based content.
SVG’s Kristian Hernandez spoke with Sky Candy Studios Owner/Director Jordan Alberino and FPV drone pilot Will Strathmann following Game 2 of both teams’ series to go inside the piloting strategy and creative concepts that go into the project, the challenges associated with flying a drone inside one the of the world most iconic arenas, and how they pulled off some of the most epic live drone footage seen to date at an in-door sports venue.
