SVG CHAIRMAN’S FORUM
The 2016 Chairman’s Forum is an invitation-only event for the leaders in sports production who will be attending the NAB convention. It is open to qualified end users as well as SVG Platinum sponsors, mobile/integrator sponsors and SVG sponsors who sponsor an event at the Chairman’s Forum.
As always, the goal of the event is to provide an off-the-record environment via general sessions and workshop tracks that give attendees a jump-start on the new technologies they will see on the NAB exhibition floor. In addition, plenty of networking time allows for new relationships to begin and deals to be struck.
Please note: The Red Rock Resort Hotel block is sold out however there are a number of nearby hotel options. We do NOT have any room discounts for these hotels.

Michael Johnson, Dome Productions, Director of Engineering
3:00-3:10: Case Study: Technicolor
HDR promises to breathe new life into the sports broadcast industry with a dynamic increase in video quality at a lower cost than 4K technology. With 100 years of expertise in color science and imaging, Technicolor will share how they have been working with broadcasters to cost effectively up-convert existing broadcasts to HDR and then deliver those signals to consumers using legacy equipment.
3:10-3:25: Networking Break
3:25-4:30: Future of Sports Production: You Say You Want a Resolution, Part One
The sports production community will descend on NAB 2016 bracing to be inundated with discussions concerning the future of sports production and, in particular, UHD. One of the aspects of UHD that is currently subject to debate is resolution. What are the pluses and minuses of producing a UHD program in 4K instead of 1080p? If most viewing is done on a UHD set that measures less than 65 inches can viewers even tell the difference between 4K and 1080p material? Experts discuss some of their experience with producing content in 1080p vs. 4K.
Discussion Leaders: Ken Aagaard, CBS Sports, EVP, Engineering, Operations and Production Services; Peter Angell, Lagardère Sports, SVP Media Operations; Brian Clark, NEP Visions, Commercial and Technical Projects Director; Michael Davies, Fox Sports, SVP Technical and Field Operations; Steve Hellmuth, NBA, EVP Operations and Technology; Michael Johnson, Dome Productions, Director of Engineering; Tom Sahara, Turner Sports, VP of Operations and Technology ; David Shield, IMG Media, SVP Global Director of Engineering & Technology
4:30-4:40: EVS Case Study: Connected Stadiums Reach for Tomorrow
Today’s connected venues are allowing fans to see more, broadcasters to do more and sports business models to achieve more. EVS looks at real-world, high-profile sports broadcast and stadium applications and live interactive experiences and shows how to use every view of the action to do things like allow officials to make better decisions more quickly, link content to create greater revenue opportunities and more.
4:40-5:15: Future of Sports Production: Bringing it All Together
The UHD discussion concludes with a focus on if, how, when (and whether) the sports industry will produce content with enhanced resolution, expanded color gamut, greater dynamic range, and frame rates beyond 60 frames per second.
Discussion Leaders: Ken Aagaard, CBS Sports, EVP, Engineering, Operations and Production Services; Peter Angell, Lagardère Sports, SVP Media Operations; Brian Clark, NEP Visions, Commercial and Technical Projects Director; Michael Davies, Fox Sports, SVP Technical and Field Operations; Steve Hellmuth, NBA, EVP Operations and Technology; Michael Johnson, Dome Productions, Director of Engineering; Tom Sahara, Turner Sports, VP of Operations and Technology; David Shield, IMG Media, SVP Global Director of Engineering & Technology
