KOAM-TV Turns to Harris for Digital News

KOAM-TV—a CBS affiliate in the Pittsburg, KS/Joplin, MO, market, which turned off its analog signal Feb 17 and transitioned to digital—is using the Harris NewsForce digital-news-production system for its live news telecasts.

Harris provided the station with two NEXIO AMP advanced media platforms, as well as members of the NewsForce family of MOS-enabled editors, including 10 Velocity ESX on-SAN high-resolution editors and three Velocity XNG field editors.

KOAM-TV integrates the Velocity ESX editors with its AP ENPS newsroom computer system, and finished clips are added to the NRCS rundown and played to air with the NEXIO MOS Playlist Manager. The station is also using three NEXIO Media Gateway servers to facilitate high-speed file transfer of news content from third-party catch servers.
