Key Code Media Supplements Sports Venues, Facilities With High-Grade Production Tools

The Sports Video Group is delighted to introduce Key Code Media as a new mobile/integrator sponsor. The company has become the preferred resource for audiovisual equipment, installation, and aftermarket support. Key Code approaches complex projects with a high-touch customer service focus, ensuring equipment is delivered, installed, and adopted by a customer successfully.

“Key Code Media is looking forward to sharing our knowledge about audiovisual, broadcast, and post production solutions with the Sports Video Group community,” says Mike Cavanagh, President & Founder, Key Code Media.

Key Code Media’s solutions cover a wide range of needs in the sports-video-production industry, including

  • A/V (conference rooms, lecture halls, classrooms, video walls, collaborative offices, city council chambers)
  • Broadcast (comm systems, flypacks, OB truck, and control rooms)
  • Production Equipment (audio Suites, video edit suites, and networking)

These offerings focus on their client’s vision and business needs by deploying solutions that work today and into the future.

“With our high-touch experienced systems, integration services, and depth of manufacturer certified engineers, we hope to provide sports production teams a better customer service experience from design to install to aftermarket support,” adds Cavanagh. “We are consistently in front of advanced technology to help sports organizations continue to drive enhanced fan experiences.”

Since the end of 2019, the company has been busy with projects involving professional sports venues around the country. In the NFL, Key Code Media recently completed installation of all new production switchers and upgraded camera systems to manage the needs of screens and production systems throughout the facility of the Dallas Cowboys.

A loaded Grass Valley 5ME X-frame Kayenne handles shows for the massive center hung display cluster and other big screens around the seating bowl and outside on the plazas.  After a “full raster” 4K upgrade and a more extensive facility-wide technology revamp, the switcher will serve as the heart of a complete 4K system managed by a 12G-SDI core infrastructure.

For the thousands of newly installed 4K screens in the suites and on the concourses, a Ross Carbonite Ultra is delivering a separate 4K show to these areas. Eight Grass LDX-86 cameras with new XCU Universe UXF base stations simultaneously output 2K for the Kayenne and 4K via 12G-SDI for the Ross. AJA FS-HDRs and on-board switcher resources smoothly handle 4K format conversion to and from 2K resources. For the project, Key Code Media provided design, engineering, and installation services, while supplying all of the new gear as well.

In MLB, Key Code Media has had great success implementing end to end post production workflows for the St Louis Cardinals and the Chicago Cubs.  Both teams have combined storage capacity over 1.5PB.  Key Code Media also deployed Media Asset Management and Archive solutions to help track new/legacy content to repurpose throughout the season, as well as keep assets protected.

Lastly, at Indianapolis Motor Speedway Key Code Media installed over 500TB of Avid shared storage.  The client runs a large pool of Media Composer and Adobe clients, Avid Media Central, Interplay Archive with Spectra Logic Black Pearl as the Archive Gateway to a large Spectra Logic T680 LTO7/LTO8 library. Telestream Vantage was also installed for workflow automation and transcoding integrated with Avid Media Central.
