Tab Butler, MLB Network, Senior Director, Media Management and Post Production

Tab Butler joined MLB Network in June of 2008 as part of the Engineering and IT Department, chartered with the facility build-out and the January 1, 2009 MLB Network launch. Currently, Butler manages the Media Management team, software development, and post production engineering and operations for the MLB Network. He oversaw the migration of the NHL Network to the MLB Network broadcast facility in 2015, utilizing the MLB Network production core infrastructure, which utilizes the latest IT technologies.

Butler has a unique background in problem solving and convergence within the broadcast media space, with over 26 years of experience in network TV broadcast operations, and 11 years of sales and marketing management with IT and broadcast manufacturers. He specialized in sales to broadcast networks, station groups, government, and global 2000 clients. Butler spent 18 years at the NBC Network. He worked for NBC News, NBC Sports, and NBC Operations and Technical Services. Butler received two Emmy Awards while at NBC, and seven Emmy Awards and one Edison Award while at MLB Network. In June of 2012, the DIAMOND System, which is an in-house developed enterprise wide media asset management system, led by Butler, was nominated for a Sports Technology Emmy.

While in manufacturing, Butler has worked in various capacities for Tektronix (Grass Valley), EMC, VideoBank, SeaChange International, and IBRIX.

Peter Horoszowski, Industry Consultant

Peter Horoszowski, president of the Boolean Consulting Group, has been working in media management software development for over 26 years. Major projects have included news content and distribution systems for NBC News; entertainment and educational content management for Sesame Workshop; television production, commercial tracking, and logging systems for Turner Entertainment; and historical archive preservation for the New York City Ballet. For the last 10 years, Horoszowski specialized in custom sports logging and television production tools for the NBA, NHL, and MLB.

Grant Nodine, NHL, SVP, Technology

Grant Nodine started his career working as a systems librarian at Editel. He moved on to working as a web developer on sites like Rodale Press’s MensHealth.com. He later co-founded a web development firm called Mercury Seven where he worked as the firm’s chief technologist. Nineteen-plus years ago, Nodine arrived at the NHL where he has been involved in building a technology infrastructure that supports NHL.com and all 30 of the team’s websites, numerous systems to produce and deliver streaming media, and many other large technology implementations.

Ian Owen, University of Notre Dame, Digital Media Asset Program Manager

Upon moving to the University of Notre Dame in 2018, Ian Owen was tasked with spreading the incumbent CatDV service beyond its athletics roots to every corner of campus. With that bold mission to bring all University assets under one roof, he now oversees 12 distinct customers from the varying worlds of sports, academics, culture, and faith. Owen takes clients from hoarding hard drives under their desks to an organized, automated, disaster-proof asset management workflow. Prior to joining the Irish in South Bend, Owen spent 8 years working in the NBA as a media archivist.

Michael Raimondo, PGA TOUR Entertainment, Senior Director, Media Asset Management and Broadcast Innovation

Michael Raimondo is the senior director of media asset management and broadcast innovation for PGA TOUR Entertainment. Raimondo oversees the PGA TOUR’s media asset management system including the day-to-day operations of the ingest operators, loggers, and library personnel, as well as the media-fulfillment division.

Raimondo has over 20 years of experience in the broadcast industry. Prior to joining PGA TOUR Entertainment, he worked in New York City at MTI – The Image Group (now NEP Studios) as a systems engineer wiring and building studios and edit suites. The company went from one studio in NYC in 1993 to seven studios by 1998. Following MTI, Raimondo was a staff engineer for rental companies (Bexel, Charter, and Duke City Video) working events for various television networks including ESPN, ABC, CBS, Channel 9 Australia, and Discovery Channel.

Scott Rinehart, University of Notre Dame, Director, Broadcast Technology

Scott Rinehart is the director of broadcast technology for the University of Notre Dame, responsible for providing technical direction and oversight of Notre Dame Studios’ production infrastructure.

Prior to Notre Dame, Rinehart worked in a variety of roles at NASCAR Media Group and PGA Tour Productions.

In 2013, Notre Dame won the inaugural SVG/NACDA Technology Leadership Award.

A native of Jacksonville, FL, Rinehart is a 1984 graduate of the University of Alabama, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in communications. While in school, he served as a student trainer under legendary coach Paul “Bear” Bryant.

Brad Zager, Fox Sports, Executive Producer, EVP/Head of Production and Operations

Brad Zager was named executive producer, EVP/head of production and operations for Fox Sports in February, 2019. In this newly created role, Zager oversees all live event production, pre- and post-game shows, all operations, and creative services. As executive producer, he is responsible for the look, sound, and editorial content for game broadcasts. Zager reports to Mark Silverman, the president of national networks.

Zager has distinguished himself as a leader in the sports television industry during his Fox Sports career, most recently leading operations across all productions airing on Fox Sports, FS1, and FS2. Over his 23-year career, Zager has served in leadership roles at Fox Sports West and Prime Ticket producing Los Angeles Dodgers baseball, as well as most notably overseeing the successful launch of Fox Sports in Japan.

Dubbed the “Doogie Howser” of sports production by the Los Angeles Daily News, Zager became lead producer of Fox Sports West’s Dodgers coverage at the age of 26. In addition, Zager was the lead producer for live game production of national football games for the then-Pac 10 conference.

Zager began his professional career in 1996 as an intern at Fox Sports West where he quickly rose through the ranks serving as both associate producer and associate director during his tenure there. His vast sports expertise also includes producing for Major League Baseball, Premier Boxing Champions, College Football, College Basketball, and Formula 1 Racing.

A native of West Bloomfield, Michigan, Zager currently resides in Los Angeles.

Brad Boim, NFL Media, Senior Director, Post Production and Asset Management

Brad Boim currently oversees the daily operations of the Post Production and Asset Management groups at the NFL Media Broadcast Center in Culver City, CA. He specializes in developing post production workflows and the strategic development of the network’s asset management and long-term archival processes.

Roy Burns, IMT, VP, Media Solutions

Roy Burns has over 18 years of experience advising clients in the media and entertainment sector. After graduating from Musicians Institute in 2002, he stayed on as a professor of Recording Theory, and Pro Tools 101 until 2008 when he joined Crown Media Family Networks as director of media operations.

At Crown, Burns owned the development and implementation of media asset management leveraging both on-premise and cloud based architectures. During his tenure, Crown Media’s original content creation grew by more than 400% and saw the launch of two additional 24-hour networks, as well as their OTT and SVOD initiatives.

Today, Burns is on the forefront of emerging media workflows and technologies. He is an active member of both SMPTE and HPA. At IMT, Burns is a member of the Advanced Consulting Team with a primary focus on MAM and workflow orchestration. He partners with clients to map their current and future media workflows and define best practices, as well as recommend and implement scalable, forward looking solutions.

Dave Clack, CatDV, CEO

David Clack leads Square Box, makers of CatDV – one of the leading media management and workflow automation platforms, helping creative professionals make incredible video and audio content, optimize media workflows, and manage the exploding demand for high quality video content. CatDV enables creative teams to manage the huge volume of video, audio, graphics, images, and documents involved in program making today. It streamlines the process of planning, shooting, post-production, and distribution of compelling media content.

Clack and the team are honored to be the power behind many household names, once in a lifetime events, and major TV and film projects. After a more technical and consulting oriented start to his career, based around software: build, service, management, sales, and support, Clack discovered this breadth, coupled with exposure to many different industries and customers, was great preparation for running and growing businesses. He has run several small to mid sized firms, as well as having senior roles in larger, household name organizations.

Jason Dachman, SVG, Chief Editor and SCM Series Program Director

Jason Dachman oversees all aspects of SVG’s North American editorial operations, including the thrice-weekly SVG Insider newsletter and SVG’s annual print publications. A member of the SVG team since 2009, Dachman also serves as program director for SVG’s RSN Summit, Sports Content Management Forum, Sports Graphics Forum, and TranSPORT event. Prior to joining SVG, he spent three years covering local sports for The Patriot Ledger in Quincy, MA, and two years on the production staff of SiriusXM Satellite Radio’s The Ron & Fez Show. Dachman began his career in the Sports Information Department at Northeastern University in Boston, where he also earned a B.A. in media communications and cinema studies.

Eric Dey, Caringo, Head of Product

Eric Dey is head of product at Caringo and is their expert on cloud storage infrastructure. He was one of the early developers on the Swarm Object Storage product.

With a B.S. in computer science from the University of California Davis, Dey has extensive experience with cloud services, Linux open-systems, and applications.

Ethan Dreilinger, The Weather Company, An IBM Business, Global Client Solutions Engineer

Ethan Dreilinger is a leader in applying AI to media workflows to enable unique customer experiences. His background was built ground up, starting in radio and television, learning the content creation side of the business. For more than 15 years, Dreilinger has worked with some of the largest media brands around the world to bring content to customers – no matter what platform they are using.

Kendall Ginsbach, National Football League, Digital Media Architect

Kendall Ginsbach began his career in France, working for Endemol and contributing to the launch of premium sports Network Orange Sport in 2009, before moving to the U.S. to participate in the launch of the Pac-12 Networks. At the Pac-12, Ginsbach took over media management and archiving operations, running one of the first systems in M&E to use cloud storage as its legacy archive. Utilizing metadata heavy processes, Ginsbach and his team designed workflows that both optimized storage strategy and allowed efficient access for content creators. After implementing a closed caption preservation workflow, always hungry for any shred of metadata, Ginsbach developed a process by which the captions were converted into searchable data, enhancing the content’s identifiability in the MAM and creating value from a cost to the organization.

In July 2017, Ginsbach joined the NFL to build and run the Digital Content Library, a centralized archive for the League’s digital assets and a workflow acceleration platform. Leveraging a modular architecture, built for sustainable growth and integrability, the DCL creates efficiency for content creation and exchange throughout the organization, while ensuring that business critical content and workflows are accessible at all times and from anywhere. Using his expertise in content management, Ginsbach has been developing workflows adapted to the wide-ranging needs of the League’s Business Units, and lead the effort to implement the DCL as the backbone for Digital Media’s VOD operations.

Anne Graham, Turner Sports Library, Assistant Manager, Media Management

Anne Graham is the assistant manager of media management at Turner Sports, joining the company in January 2017. She was previously at the archives at Kennesaw State University in Kennesaw, Georgia, where she served as the digital collections archivist from 2008 to 2016. While at KSU, Graham specialized in audio-visual formats, as well as digitized and born-digital materials.

Graham has a master’s degree in library and information studies from Florida State University and a master’s degree in information systems from Kennesaw State University.

Greg Holick, IMT, VP of Product

Over his 20-year career in the storage industry, Greg Holick has been instrumental in the design, development, and implementation of workflow-optimized storage technologies and solutions. He led engineering the UI for Quantum’s StorNext Filesystem, product management for Quantum’s Lattus Object Storage, and cloud storage solutions at Seagate. Holick also has field experience as a solution architect where he helped install and implement many complex customer solutions.

Holick has advised many channel partners across verticals and was director of strategic alliances for Western Digital’s ActiveScale. As an industry expert, he has been influential on various panels focused on solving challenging storage problems. Holick most recently joined IMT as VP of product, focused on building the SoDA Software across the media and entertainment industry, leveraging partner integration to simplify the customer experience. He earned his Bachelor of Science in electrical and computer engineering at the University of Colorado Boulder.

Ken Kerschbaumer, SVG, Executive Director, Editorial

Ken Kerschbaumer is co-executive director of editorial services for the Sports Video Group and SVG Europe. He was a co-founder of SVG along with Paul Gallo and Marty Porter in 2005 and has been writing about how sports networks and leagues use video and audio technology to deliver a quality TV experience since 1991. Kerschbaumer began his career in 1991 at Television Broadcast magazine before joining Cahners where he was founding editor of Digital Broadcasting magazine. In 2000, he joined Broadcasting & Cable magazine as senior editor of technology where he covered all aspects of broadcasting, cable, and internet content creation and distribution.

Dave Klee, A+E Networks, VP, Strategic Media Solutions

David Klee is the vice president of strategic media solutions at A+E Networks, a global entertainment and media company with cable television channels including A&E, History, FYI, Viceland, and Lifetime. He is building a new technology team based in New York, focused on engineering and strategy for media supply chain systems, leveraging the cloud to drive agile transformations.

Before joining A+E, Klee was the director of media management technologies for Univision Communications (UCI), the largest Spanish-language media company in the U.S. with a portfolio of broadcast, cable, and digital properties. There, he built a new engineering team focused on software development for media supply chain tools, along with optimizing workflows for entertainment, news, and sports verticals.

Prior to Univision, Klee had the opportunity to work in media management, live production, creative, and operational roles for a variety of organizations including the Arizona Cardinals, ESPN, and most recently NBC News in New York where he managed a team focused on MAM and media software engineering. Klee holds a Master of Science in information management from Arizona State University and is an AWS Certified Solutions Architect.

Sig Knapstad, ALT Systems – powered by Cutting Edge workflows, Chief Technology Officer

Sig Knapstad is chief technology officer at ALT Systems, powered by Cutting Edge workflows. Knapstad is an influential adviser tasked with driving the company’s technology vision. He brings significant technical subject matter expertise, proven communication skills, and the ability to attract, retain, and motivate top technical talent. Knapstad is the co-founder of Cutting Edge, which merged with ALT Systems to become one of the top media and entertainment value-added resellers in the country.

Dustin Myers, Fox Sports, SVP, Production Operations

A California native, Dustin Myers has happily worn many hats in the media and entertainment industry. A graduate of the American Film Institute, and a multiple Emmy winner, he has worked across documentaries, broadcast, and digital media. Myers has been with Fox Sports Media Group since 2003, leading the teams for Super Bowls in New York, Houston, and Miami; FIFA World Cups in Canada, Russia, and France; and feels this is the year for the Dodgers.

David Phillips, Cloudian, Principal Architect, M&E Solutions

A media technologist with over 20 years of experience in the design and deployment of media and entertainment workflows, David Phillips brings a unique set of creative problem-solving skills to every project or design. After 10 years of architecting feature film restoration and finishing pipelines for The Criterion Collection, Phillips joined Rohde & Schwarz-DVS as a solutions architect in 2012. While at R&S, he designed SAN and workflow solutions for a wide variety of enterprise customers in North America.

Phillips joined NBCU in 2014 to manage the Entertainment Systems division, responsible for designing and building the infrastructure supporting the late night and cable entertainment production units in New York City. Seeing the exponential storage capacity requirements on the media space horizon and the market need for storage platforms that facilitate key data analytics, Phillips joined Cloudian in 2018 to provide next-generation cloud-native designs for media enterprise customers.

Chris Scoggins, Activision Blizzard Esports, Senior Media Asset Manager for Global Broadcast

As senior media asset manager for global broadcast at Activision Blizzard Esports, Chris Scoggins oversees media and digital asset management for Blizzard Esports. This includes content archival and delivery, as well as VOD publishing pipelines for Overwatch League, BlizzCon, and the upcoming Call of Duty League.

He began work with Blizzard in 2017, building their asset management infrastructure from the ground up. Over the last two years, Scoggins and his team have worked tirelessly to develop, implement, and standardize asset management at Blizzard. His background stems from traditional sports broadcasting, where he focused on asset management and production scheduling. Transitioning into the expanding world of esports, Scoggins aims to establish enterprise asset management to service Blizzard’s global content needs.

Roger Singh, Nutanix, Director of Business Development for Media and Entertainment

Roger Singh is the director of business development for media and entertainment at Nutanix. Singh has over 15 years of experience architecting workflows and infrastructure solutions across post-production, distribution, news, sports, and entertainment environments for media companies like NBCUniversal and A&E Networks.

Singh has spent the last several years helping film and broadcast clients transform their businesses through modernization of workflows, infrastructure, and cloud.

Bryan Staffaroni, WWE, VP, Media Asset Management

Bryan Staffaroni has been with World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) for the past 16 years and is currently the VP of media asset management. The groups he oversees include Media Management, Central Ingest, and Media Library Services. He and his team built, manage, and continue to expand the WWE’s 150,000 hour digital archive. They also play an integral role supporting WWE’s elite production team which creates hundreds of hours of content each and every week for the WWE Network, USA Network, web, social media, and broadcasts in 170+ countries.

Starting out as the sole member of the WWE Media Management Department in 2006, Staffaroni found no shortage of opportunities to adapt and expand his department to meet the demands of production. He played a major role in WWE’s transition to HD in 2008 including establishing workflows for WWE’s first digital archive within their new Grass Valley editing environment. He also took the role of process manager on the WWE Digital Archive Project in 2010 where more than 28,000 WWE show masters were ingested, archived, and fully logged within a year’s time. Today, Staffaroni’s teams support and maintain WWE’s digital archive and are responsible for all naming conventions, taxonomy, metadata entry, asset tracking, and disaster recovery strategies.

Prior to joining WWE, Staffaroni co-owned and operated Grey Sky Films.

Andrew Van Dam, Tape Ark, Chief Technology Officer

As chief technology officer, Andrew Van Dam is responsible for driving Tape Ark’s proprietary technology stack which enables the mass-ingest of tape bound data to the cloud from anywhere in the world. Never satisfied with the status quo, Van Dam has been focused on reinventing the entire tape reading and cloud ingest process to work at scale and with minimal human-touch interaction.

By applying system and design thinking principles, Van Dam and his team have built an architecture that delivers a high quality and secure tape to cloud migration, at scale and speed.

Van Dam has enjoyed a deep fascination with electronics and automation from a young age and is passionate about integrated IOT design. He seeks inspiration from the electronics and engineering communities across various industries, and is an AWS developer associate.

Shane Warden, ATP Media, CTO

As chief technology officer, Shane Warden is responsible for keeping ATP Media at the leading edge of media technology and excellence, pushing the boundaries of production, distribution, content management, and sports data to enhance quality, service, and value for the global broadcast partners and the ATP Tour.

Warden has over 28 years of experience in technical and operational management covering all aspects of sports media and broadcasting from outside broadcasts, studios, post-production, transmission, and distribution, as well as media asset management (MAM / DAM), sports data, and digital OTT. He has held senior management positions within private and FTSE listed organizations and his reputation in technology and sports media has lead him to become an advisor to many technology and software manufacturers across trending industry challenges. Warden currently sits on the SVG Europe Advisory Board, as well as the SVG Americas Asset Management Advisory Board.

In his role as CTO for ATP Media, Warden leads the Business Services vertical, holding overall responsibility for technical strategy and innovation, international distribution, and connectivity. He is also responsible for all aspects of workflow, content management, and the collaborative digital workplace.

Jerome Wauthoz, Tedial, VP, Products

Jerome Wauthoz joined Tedial in 2017 following more than 22 years at EVS Broadcast Equipment. He has a deep understanding of live production workflows and extensive experience analyzing customer needs across global markets. Wauthoz launched his career at EVS as a software engineer and subsequently held management-level positions including R&D manager, product manager, and market solutions manager. Prior to joining Tedial, Wauthoz served as VP of products, responsible for overseeing the team tasked with developing the company’s next-generation solutions.

Wauthoz holds a Masters in Engineering degree in electro-mechanics from Liège University, Belgium where he also served as an assistant teacher.

Jack Wenzinger, AWS, M&E Global Vertical, Technology Partners SA

Jack Wenzinger is a solution architect in the media and entertainment vertical for AWS, supporting technology partners as they leverage AWS in their media operations and services to support their customers. Wenzinger works with executives and technology owners to address their technical and non-technical transformation challenges, providing domain expertise for cloud adoption and achievement of key business objectives.

Wenzinger spent over 20 years defining digitization, MAM, and media workflow solutions for studios, broadcasters, sports, news, and government agencies, including the digitization and preservation of the United States Military content archives. He is always ready to talk cloud, MAM, media supply chain, metadata, classic car restoration, big dogs, jeeps, or rock bands.

Hossein ZiaShakeri, Spectra Logic, SVP of Business Development and Strategic Alliances

Hossein ZiaShakeri is Spectra Logic’s senior vice president of business development and strategic alliances. ZiaShakeri is an executive on the company’s technology team tasked with maintaining the company’s leadership position in product innovation and business success. He has more than 30 years of experience in design, engineering, and management of storage systems, with a special focus on the M & E industry.
