1:05 – 1:30 p.m.: Opening Keynote Conversation With Steve Rosenberg, President of Local Sports, Sinclair Broadcast Group
Nearly one year-ago to the day that he took over as President of Local Sports for Sinclair Broadcast Group, Steve Rosenberg kicks off The RSN Summit with a fireside chat in which he’ll address the future of the industry, the impact of the pandemic, the recent Bally Sports rebrand, the rise of sports-betting, potential DTC streaming offerings in the future, and much more.

1:30 – 2:15 p.m.: Post-Pandemic Game-Production Ops: What Will the Future of Live Production Look Like for RSNs?
The pandemic dramatically transformed regional sports networks’ live-production operations over the past year. To limit travel and onsite crew for safety, dual-feed and side-by-side productions have been replaced by enhanced world feeds and REMI workflows. As the RSN world gradually returns to normalcy, what will future productions look like, and how will the remote-production innovations of the past year impact game productions?

2:30 – 2:45 p.m.: RSN Spotlight: Behind the Scenes With ROOT SPORTS’ High-Flying Aerial Camera at T-Mobile Park
During the MLB shutdown, ROOT SPORTS took advantage of the downtime to try some innovative technology on its live broadcasts of the Seattle Mariners. Most notably, the network rigged a two-point aerial camera system – the DACTYLCAM PRO by DEFY – above the stands down the third base line at T-Mobile Park to pull in gorgeous cinematic views of on-field play. ROOT SPORTS production and engineering leaders will take attendees inside the creative inspiration behind the camera and what advice they would give to other broadcasters looking to experiment more in aerial cameras for baseball, NHL, NBA and more.
Moderator: Brandon Costa, SVG, Director of Digital
Presenters:

Jim Armintrout, Seattle Mariners, Television Director
Jon Bradford
, ROOT SPORTS, Vice President and Executive Producer

2:45 – 3:30 p.m.: Post-Pandemic Studio & Office Ops: Will the Future RSN Workforce Be Remote, Onsite, or a Hybrid?
Typically, a 24/7 hotbed of activity, RSN studios and offices were suddenly empty last spring when the pandemic forced the industry to shift almost entirely to remote operation. Although staffers have gradually returned to onsite broadcast, many RSNs have opted to keep some crew and on-air talent at home. What will stay remote and what returns to the facility as we move forward? And, most important, what new technologies/workflows will be required to maintain high-quality programming and network operations?
Moderator: Kristian Hernandez, SVG, Associate Editor and Social Media Manager
Panelists:
Jared Boshnack, YES Network, Senior Coordinating Producer
Jeff Filippi, MSG Networks, SVP, Programming and Production / Executive Producer
A.J. Ponsiglione, Spectrum SportsNet and SportsNet LA, Senior Coordinating Producer, Studio and Live Events

3:30 – 4:15 p.m.: The Rise of Sports Betting: How RSNs Are Integrating Betting Into Their Broadcasts
Few sectors of the media industry stand to benefit more from the cascade of sports-betting legalization across the country than regional sports networks. As many look to capitalize on the expected revenue boost, RSNs in states with legalized sports betting have launched alternative “betcasts” for games, wagering-focused studio shows and original programming, predictive-gaming contests for fans, and more. RSN leaders discuss how they are incorporating betting content into their broadcasts and how that’s changing production strategy.
Moderator: Brandon Costa, SVG, Director of Digital
Panelists:
Kevin Cross
, NBCUniversal Local Chicago, President
Brian Erdlen, SNY, Chief Revenue Officer
Kenny Miller, Altitude Sports and Entertainment, EVP and General Manager/Executive Producer
Brian Rogers, VSiN, EVP of Production

4:15 – 5:00 p.m.: RSN Production Tech Focus: Vendor Tips and Tools
Even before the pandemic changed the face of live production, the way RSNs produce live games, studio shows, and original programming was undergoing massive change. Today, RSN production and engineering teams are on the lookout for next-gen technologies and remote workflows that meet both today’s pandemic-era needs and the challenges of tomorrow. Hear from technology leaders on how these groundbreaking tools are changing RSN production and what they could mean for the future.
